Post What are you watching? (with spoilers)

This differs from the "currently watching" thread in that if you just post some titles here, you're cruising for a digital bruising.

Literally describe what you just watched - if you finished watching an episode of whatever, describe some notable stuff. It doesn't have to be a whole summary - just some finer points.

For instance, I finished watching The Sacred Blacksmith episode 5 - the male protagonist has a cute loli assistant, and this episode centered around her life. The female protagonist was pestering her male counterpart over how he treats his loli - he does take care of her, but it's one of those living with opposite gender deals.

The heroine questions if the guy is treating the loli like a girl, as she believes he should - and much moe ensues thereafter. The character development is great thus far, though I wonder how the fellow met the loli to begin with.

And here's the loli in question:

She's wearing a new outfit that she's incredibly happy about because her male protagonist guardian paid for it and she was apparently deprived of frilly stuff prior to meeting him.

i was listening to Ichiban no takaramono by GiDeMo which made me feel like watching episode 10 of angel beats again.

Episode 10: Otonashi helps Yui with all the dreams she had when she was still alive. Since when Yui was still alive she was handicapped, she wanted to try wrestling, soccer, and baseball. As it was comedic at first, the ending made episode 10 one of the saddest and most memorable when Hinata stepped up and proposed to Yui seriously, he wanted to get married to Yui so that she can be happy. This fulfilled Yui's desire and so she moved on, out of purgatory.

I really like that episode of Angel Beats - the first time I watched it, I really did not anticipate the romantic part there.

The Sacred Blacksmith episode 10:

The male protagonist seems to have a background which is only continually getting darker. He formerly had a childhood friend - and he had to experience the sight of her death first hand as they both foolishly ventured into a dangerous place. Yet nearer the end of the episode, it turns out he's the one who technically killed her - there's likely some complications behind it however. The girl became a demon which now serves as the guy's assistant - so I assume he turned her into a demon, effectively killing her, in order to actually ensure she doesn't just die for good.

All the while, the female protagonist is getting worked up over how little she knew about the male protagonist and his gristly background.

Ah yes, Cecily had no idea that was coming, but despite his traumatizing past. Luke ended up being one of my favorite protagonists because he has a deep and more intricate personality close to that of real persons' mind. too bad that kind of male protagonists come once and a blue moon now. But then again, the bishojous can sometimes make up for the lack of personality in the male lead

Finished the show - great series, though you can tell there's obviously a ton from the manga/light novels that's still left out. Also, I wish there was some more romance development - but with only 13 episodes, they did as much as they can do. The two get married in the latest book: http://seventhstyle.com/2012/07/07/shes-the-perfect-housewaifu/

Like you say, the characters are pretty realistic - they consider what they do, and aren't the usual kill everything, super invincible anime types.

http://seventhstyle.com/2012/08/06/yuru-yuri-s2-crude-mahou-shoujo-comedy/

Yuru Yuri S2's latest episode is a massive gag reel - half of it is about liberating balls from humans, whilst simultaneously sabotaging and inconveniencing the human sport playing effort, and the other half is just a stack of jokes taking place at "Comuket". Some lolis get angry - and a tsundere goes crazy.

Tales of The Abyss ep 1-4

Image

Protagonist of a wealthy and royal family was always locked in a mansion, yet circumstances eventually place him in a party of two with the attractive heroine, and the group keeps growing from there - with consistent suspense on the endings. The protagonist is quite earnest and very righteous despite being rather childish as result of his locked up childhood - and the heroine is notably quite sincere.

All characters are highly interesting - and they're in the process of stopping a war with peace.

Eureka Seven episode 2

Eureka Seven AO came out some time ago and I was like, wait, I never watched the Eureka Seven anime. Never got a chance to download till now >.>

In this sode Renton follows his new love Eureka into battle following while following his dream and protecting her. Ends up in her cockpit with the Amita drive unlocking the Satori program and kicks some serious mecha ass (its confusing to me if he was controlling the Nirvash type ZERO or it was the Satori program or both this early in the anime). After the fight he is face with with another choice, follow his new dream and love joining gekkostate or pretty much stay with his grandpa and rebuild the garage.

Tales of The Abyss ep 4-13

The protagonist was taken advantage of by someone close to him - and our protagonist really could not have known any better. He has power which has the potential for either some great deeds, or very iniquitous things - and while he tried to do his best, it was anything but. He then learns that he's no more than a clone of another individual - yet overcoming numerous obstacles, he just settles for the fact that he's sentient as he is, and he must struggle to make up for the wrong he's done.

Valkyria Chronicles - all

A guy with a plain life becomes a militia super commando as it turns out that despite his lack of interest in the military, he's immensely skilled at leading an army - not to mention, he does indeed want to bring war to an end. He becomes close with a girl he met during the first episode - and basically, the course of the series shows him getting more involved with her, as well as others who make his military unit.

Of course, there's also numerous hardships faced, a variety of crazy twists, romance, and one of the more interesting aspects is that despite the series looking quite wholesome upon its start, it gets fairly brutal and unforgiving as it goes along, no one is immune to death.

Not from the actual series:
