An elemental workshop.

Ufotable’s take on Fate/Stay Night is consistent with Fate/Zero – key visuals show the character designs to be highly refined, doused in contrast, and surrounded in an aura of darkness to capture the mood.

Skipping over Shirou for a moment and going straight to the last of these three photos, we can see Saber looks straight out of Fate/Zero – yet she’s actually going to be even more skillfully detailed than seen in Fate/Zero because Ufotable is not a studio to lazy out where improvement is possible. Now imagine for a second, a Fate/series… that looks even better than Fate/Zero. It’s incomprehensible, but soon will it be true – even Shirou doesn’t look like the crying, complaining, pushover he normally is, all courtesy of Ufotable.

While the HF TE is a better ending and definitely happier, the NE gave me a much bigger impact.

    heaven feel’s trailer by ufotable

  • I marathoned Fate/Zero with my father last month, and we’re really interested in another war for the holy grail, so here a few questions:

    1) Heaven’s Feel is Sakura route, right? Seeing Arturia all lovey dovey and straight after Zero would be Akward as fuck.

    2) On a scale of 1 to 10 how much that fucking Ginger is less annoying and sexist?
Obviously 10 = what he was in the first series.

    3) And while we’re at it, if everything else fails ( A.K.A: Shirou ruining the series again);
what happened with Fate/prototype’s manga? It’s been three months now and nothing.

Thanks in advance, and the luck be on my side.

    • neodarksun says:

      1) Yes
      2) Probably 5, a significant decision he did in this route has received mixed reception, and I’m on the negative scale, but it still made sense considering the plot so I don’t hold it against him.

      • 1) Good, non-romantic Arturia, is best Arturia.

        2) I expected worst. As long as he doesn’t go all “I’ll protect you, Saber!” more than twice, I’m fine.

        • faust91x says:

Nah actually Shirou goes more badass in this route, and so does Saber.

Heaven’s Feel has dark Saber vs Shirou and also is the only one where we get to see Kotomine Kirei being a badass again.

  • Anonymous says:

So.. any confirmation on what season we a tusllh get to see this come to life?

So I’m still getting the feeling I’m the only one not on board the Heaven’s Feel train. Seeing some Heaven’s Feel mixed with Unlimited Blade Works, from the Vita VN, and original images has instilled more hope into me, but I feel like this anime should stand out on it’s own, and not just be the visual novel featuring motion pictures. I want to be told a good story once, and not three times over only to be told I should interpret it as a metaphor to growing in maturity.

The only one? Yeah, I’ll just go back to what I was doing.

    • neodarksun says:

Actually, if done right, combining UBW and HF could really work out. I could really see plot points from both routes becoming connected. The hard part would be the servants though, the roles of the servant are severely different from both routes.

    • Seven says:

“I want to be told a good story once, and not three times over only to be told I should interpret it as a metaphor to growing in maturity.”

      Sounds like PA Works.

Even if you don’t want to see the same story five times, the reason it made it up to the fifth time to begin with is cause necrotards keep pouring money in it. It would be much more interesting to get adaptations of the Fate/series people hear less of like ataraxia something or whatever, aprocrypawhoknowswhat.

      • realdrakeula says:

I know little about Hollow Ataraxia and the new characters it features, and the wiki makes it still a tad bit difficult to understand. It still isn’t fully translated I think, and an adaption would be both unique and helpful. However, I don’t mind seeing SN redone again; not until it’s done right. And no, it doesn’t have to be right by my definition.

“Ufotable is not a studio to lazy out where improvement is possible”.

Look, I love Ufotable for its stellar work doing Fate/Zero and Kara no Kyoukai as much as you or anyone else does here, but have you seen the second volume of the Fate/Zero boxset? Aside from minor scene additions in about 2-3 episodes, there were no improvements to animation quality to the episodes in that volume.

    • Seven says:

“there were no improvements to animation quality to the episodes in that volume.”

I can’t tell If you’re serious. You can’t expect absolute, flawless, 100% perfection – Fate/Zero is already high quality, polished, and flawless. I don’t even know what “improvements to animation quality” you want. Did you examine the episodes with a magnifying glass and notice a loose pixel floating around?

  • avatar filmftw1 says:

Please let it be all 3 routes! I know some are ok with Deen’s work and only want HF adapted, but guess what? I’m not satisfied with Deen’s work (never finished tv show, never saw UBW). But then everything changed when Ufotable took over some of Type-Moon and bam, their work got me excited. Ultimate dream: all 3 routes done right under Ufotable. (impatient on HF? If you haven’t, read the original visual novel. It will take awhile.)

  • Anonymous says:

so why is there a like a general hate for shirou?

    • realdrakeula says:

Are because he’s sexist, pacifistic or hesitant when it really counts, has no sense of identity, and has no common sense as to what will get him killed when that’s counteractive to him actually protecting anyone good enough?

      • Anonymous says:

I just can’t see why anyone would ‘hate’ Shirou. Disliking him is fine but hate? Nah. I mean, all the flaws you stated are all part of his character.

Sexist? No, he just cares for Saber and does not want to see her get hurt. It’s not like he’s telling her to stay in the kitchen; rather, he would LOVE to just do that). He is simply too obsessed about being a hero of justice.

Pacifistic? Yes, but that’s his whole charm. That’s him being a Hero of Justice in a non-corrupted Kiritsugu way. When he absolutely has to fight though, he does it. This brings me to the next point: he is not ‘hesitant’ at all. The only time I remember him hesitating at all is during Heaven’s Feel making the you know what decision.

The rest I kinda agree with you. Sense of identity, yeah but that’s the whole point of UBW; he has nothing in him except the idea of being a superhero. No common sense? Yup but that’s what Rin keeps teasing him about.

TL;DR Shirou isn’t a weak protag. All the haters make him sound as annoying as Shinji (Eva), Shu (GC), etc but he’s leagues better.

        • Anonymous says:

Except in Fate route, he IS a weak protagonist. Absolutely, no ifs, ands, or buts. And in a setting as dark and mature as FSN, Shirou’s pacifism just doesn’t fit, and is utterly annoying. He constantly acts like he wants to protect Saber, and yet she’s more than capable of taking care of herself; I get that that’s part of his “wanting to protect women” thing, but at a certain point it just becomes patronizing and sexist. Now, with all that said, he finally starts to shape up and become a more well-rounded, complex character in UBW and especially in HF, but as far as the Fate route is concerned, yeah, he’s terrible.

    • fuyumi says:

Recently, you can see Shirou haters everywhere but you will find most of their reasons are absolutely absurd.

      • gargamesh says:

Those absurd reasons can be summarized by the person above you.

        • realdrakeula says:

I don’t hate Shirou to any degree really, even though I came off that way purposely. He’s still a generic protagonist in my opinion, but I was merely speaking for the haters. If I hated Shirou that much, he wouldn’t be my profile picture on this site.

  • predator says:

Hello everyone.I’m new here just wanna say hey.I am a big fan of fate series.this is the Heaven’s Feel route right.I enjoyed fate/zero but not so much for Fate/stay night. Is this a movie or a anime adaptation?

  • Anonymous says:

If possible, I only hope Ufotable would remake the Fate route. Studio Deen really screw a hell lot of things up, especially the supposed epic battle of Archer and Berserker, not to mention the sorry excuse of a reality marble…

  • Hawkward says:

A little late to the party, but just wanted to say I’m really looking forward to Shirou getting this shit kicked out of him multiple times throughout, unless he’s actually going to become more of a badass, then I welcome that as well.

But yeah, please beat up Shirou, it will amuse us sincerely.

  • Anonymous says:

just an opinion, but saber’s look from the pic above gives me the creep. studio deen’s way better at that scene…

    • gargamesh says:

      Lol, no.

One frame of ufotable is already better than an episode’s animation of Studio Deen.

      • Anonymous says:

I don’t remmembre the studio that made F/SN.Was it S.DEEN

      • Anonymous says:

about the the animation and plot, I totally agree with you. just trying to say that the look she’s throwing at her master-in-distress is way too fierce, as if he’s just used a command spell to make her strip or sth… I think a stoic expression like what S.Deen did would be better.

If it’s HF, I’m not going to watch it, no matter how good the animation is. As a Shirou/Saber shipper, the tragedy that was Saber being “eaten” is something I cannot stand to undergo more times than necessary.

I would be okay with an UBW adaptation, but if they could redo Fate or somehow manage to mesh all three routes, I would be absolutely floored. As long as I get my Shirou/Saber fix, anyway.

That’s, like, a major fixing point for me. I don’t hate Rin or Sakura, but Shirou and Saber always seemed to click best of the three.

Jury’s still out on how I can handle the fact that Saber is a genderswapped version of one of my favorite heroes ever, but that is not for small minds to ponder.

    • Anonymous says:

I know right. Especially the fact that Saber kinda died twice in HF, and also, can’t really stand the Shirou/Sakura shipping in that route either(Though I’m biased so… :p)

    • I agree. Saber/Shirou is my favorite ship of any anime, and to see it done right by Ufotable would make life complete. But if they were to make HF, I would still watch it, I like its dark story, no matter how painful it would be to see Saber be consumed. It makes sense for Ufotable to remake the Fate route because Zero was a prequel to that anime, which is the Fate route, any other route would seem strange.

I’m finding this quite hard to follow. So what exactly is happening, Is there going to be a new Anime based on the HF Pathway?, is it just a Facelift for Fate/stay night?, is it an anime adaption for the Unlimited Blade Works movie? or is it still just a rumor? Please tell me that would be great thanks

    • Anonymous says:

We don’t know for sure yet which route it is, so its all just speculation. What we DO know is that Ufotable has confirmed that they are animating a new F/SN anime. That’s it. Lots of people(maybe even a majority) think that it will be HF(mostly because it is the only one that hasn’t been animated yet), but others are, as you say, hoping for ” a facelift” for the Fate route, others for a real adaptation of UBW(the movie basically required you to have played the route to understand it after all) but in summary(all caps don’t imply irritation, just to make it stand out): ALL WE KNOW IS THAT IT’S A FATE/STAY NIGHT ANIME, NOT WHICH ROUTE.

  • Anonymous says:

Hopefully its a remake of all the three routes! Can’t stands DEEN’s adaptation *shudder* and I don’t want Heaven’s Feel to be the only animated, cause its just like leaving the rest of the routes to be “raped” by DEEN.

  • Anonymous says:

i want saber and shirou be together!

  • Anonymous says:

Gen Urobutcher said that it’s probobly a UBW remake which i am all for Rin is best girl

  • Anonymous says:

tryin to say but ufotable’s saber gives me the creep and i like it because HE WAS RAISED TO BE A KING. while deen’s made her like some girls in to love ru like ew. but the point is, i cant wait for the anime no matter what route it is.

  • Anonymous says:

Any date confirmed on FSN remake release?

    • Anonymous says:

Well I heard there are more information coming out around January this coming year, perhaps its the confirmed date of the remake, so overall no news about the exact date :p Just awaiting news of news to be released.

  • The Fate route was always my favorite, this I was disappointed with DEEN’s animation, it could be done so much better than it was. I think it would make the most sense for Ufotable to remake the Fate route, since Fate/Zero was a prequel to that anime, it would make sense to right the wrongs that came before. Then, after they finished that, then do UBW, or Heaven’s Feel.

And if they do the Fate route, please include the Realta Nua epilogue, or else I will be annoyed.

  • Anonymous says:

Honestly I can already tell this is going to be crap if the only thing to brag about is the art. the TRUE Fate/Stay Night anime is the original one because it actually valued substance over style. It’s a shame to see such to see such an incredible anime and visual novel be completely and utterly destroyed by this ufotable. If this is anything like Zero, it’ll end up just being a failure and disgrace.

I seriously doubt this company will be able to match up to deen’s adaptation. it was so well done comapred to the crap that was zero. and so far this remake isn’t looking up to the task at al. *sighs* Ooffotable or whatever the heck your name is, eve rhear of the expression don’t fix what’s not broken?

    • Anonymous says:

I….I can’t… Are you joking? You’re joking right?

Being someone who read the Hell out of that visual novel, I can say that Zero was absolutely awesome, and DEEN’s adaptation of Stay Night was an absolute disaster. It had neither substance nor style, and required reading the visual novel to have an inkling of what’s going on.

Had a buddy of mine who watched the anime without the VN. He started talking about it, and it truly sounded like he had no clue what he was talking about. If you’re adapting a story from one medium to another, that much shouldn’t be lost in translation.

      I don’t know. Maybe that’s just me.

Ufotable. You have my blessings. Do work.
