Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge puts up a marvelous show in its first PV, going beyond anticipation on all levels as the visuals are wondrous, the sounds are serene, and there is a vast cloud of sentiment all in between.
A light symphony gently eases one into the atmosphere of Dansai Bunri – and the second striking feature, after the excellent assembly of sounds, is the aesthetics to go with it. The scenes are not blatant or garish in emphasis, they focus on the characters indirectly – highlighting a surrounding of lush natural flora, whilst also concentrating of key elements of our characters, like the heroine’s ravishing mane, or the protagonist’s curious scissors.
Early on, we’re weaned into the darkness – the video shows us it’s not all a resplendent lifestyle, without getting explicit on the violence awaiting, it shows us simply a transience of unfortunate mood. The brilliance is that following this introduction to dangerous things lurking, we’re then given a full view of the heroine – this cute loli is the delicate creature at stake.
And what follows further into the clip is a barrage of emotion, a cauldron of assorted vibes associated with reminiscence of all kinds – our protagonist isn’t too sure what to feel as his journey will force him into scenarios unfavorable, and regrettable alike.
Peace is a respite, yet it does not come inevitably – Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge debuts in 2013, and this may very well be Studio Gokumi’s masterwork and stage into greater heights.

I have to say, at first i had doubts on what would turn out a series focusing on hair, but after seeing this PV, there is certainly more to this than just hair, there’s this absolute serious vibe, there were scenes where we see signs of abuse to the heroine, and the implications of what was discussed in a previous article-true & pure romance.
I had doubts from the studio before since they have made that atrocity, NakaImo, but it seems this will be the better titles of the new year.

Agreed. The plot sounds ridiculous, the staff is mediocre, and the first visual was disapointing, so I was going to dismiss this series, but this has restored my hope, at least for the time being.

I still say we shouldn’t get our hopes up…the PV is doing a good job of doing just that, but let us remember that these things have a rather evil tendency to lie to us..and that NakaImo still left a bad taste in my mouth.
But, I now see Crime Edge’s potential as a truly worthwhile story. I dare say, it kinda feels like Dantalian no Shoka meets Edward Scissorhands.

Don’t spread your fetishes all over everyone else.
“and that NakaImo still left a bad taste in my mouth.”
The rest of us had expectations for this series. And seeing how terrible it was, it lived up to those expectations.

This looks like, it contains something I wanted to see; unforced drama, those with a natural flow to it. Specially, after the horrible taste fall season left.
Dec 29, 2012 @ 18:24 CDT
Fall was a lot worse than imagined, even what initiated promising quickly ruined itself.
The Great Tragedy of 2012.

Well to me, what made fall bad was the hype it incited, “only to fall” flat on its face. So I’d like to call it, “The Great fall of 2012″, and it also sounds ironic.

Name one fall 2012 show that doesn’t get quickly worse.
Dec 30, 2012 @ 10:49 CDT
As it didn’t worsen after a only a couple of 2/3 eps. I would say medaka box, for me started out good and had some awesome scenes here and there, but got predictable over time and ending wasn’t really all that great. But I’d still give it a positive nod. Or stayed sustained from top to finish? I got nothing, because even my favorite show this fall, zetsuen no tempest, became somewhat weaker during a couple of eps, and only manage to really pull my interest back during the recent eps.

Psycho-Pass kept my interest, and right now it is really awesome, but it did decline a little bit somewhere in the middle.
Dec 30, 2012 @ 11:16 CDT
Personally, I thought it started a little weak, but gets better and better. I don’t really mind some flaws, as long as it gets better until the end.

I haven’t caught up, I’m only in episode 7, I’m having a hard time passing through it. I find the arc antagonist, the popular girl, to be lame and should stop using so much eye liner.
Dec 29, 2012 @ 8:56 CDT
Despite the story saying her hair can’t be tended, it sure does look like it is flowing very gracefully and naturally.
Dec 29, 2012 @ 8:57 CDT
I was never interested in this…until now. The music and the bloody scissors did it for me.
Dec 29, 2012 @ 11:08 CDT
The story is already great, the music also fits the atmosphere.
But really, the animation is average, and I don’t really like their way degrading the actual artwork.

considering the studio and their resources, let’s just be grateful that they did this good of a job.
