Nekomonogatari is near, yet pre-release imagery is here – everyone definitely looks younger in this prequel than we’ve seen them in past works, and it certainly looks Shuraragi and crew are a lot less experienced.
Going from the top, above we have the loli from her days of no speech – her appearance is certainly not as feisty as it was in Nisemonogatari, although contrary to Nisemonogatari, she appears infuriated here. Moving below, we have Hanekawa who unlike the rest of the crew, strikes as much more familiar in appearance – short hair just doesn’t go well with her style, or at least the facade of personality we know. One of Nekomonogatari’s most fascinating aspects is it will explore the true Hanekawa, hinted at since Bakemonogatari – but not touched until now.
One down, it’s Koyomi-oneechan, and while he may physically appear the same, he’s anything but – in Nisemonogatari, he’s a saint in the making, but as Nekomonogatari takes place before even Bakemonogatari, his knowledge is sure to be little over null in regards to dealing with the supernatural.
Besides the highly dynamic hair styles, the imoutos appear intact as they were in Nisemonogatari – although they too, like their onii-chan Shurararagi-kun, are still much naive here. Onto the second image of Shinobu, her curled up state, it’s quite a gracious gift that the whole line of “-monogatari” will be animated as we definitely all wish to learn the story behind this troubled loli.
Next up is Hawaii, and the strange aspect about him is that odd as he may appear, he has such a level of confidence, one just doesn’t feel like knowing more about him since he seems so assured of himself. Not an air of arrogance, but an awareness of placement in regards to himself and others.
And lastly, we have neko-tan. There’s actually no need to question anything about her just yet as we’re sure to be seeing a lot of her, and given that she’s in her underwear, quite literally at that. It’s going to be quite a wonderful round of Monogatari in this upcoming Nekomonogatari.
