An elemental workshop.

Nopan mahjong is apparently a never-ending ordeal – Saki has been confirmed to be receiving a direct sequel to the original TV series, “Saki: Zenkoku-hen”, which will finally address the cliffhanging of the first season.

Season one of Saki had the flat-chested heroine, Saki herself, succeed in making it to the major league – yet it ended with that. Her reason for going as far wasn’t to win any medal to begin with – rather, as with the Achiga crew, it was more so to meet someone through the roundabout method of scaling ranks in mahjong till reaching them.

Ridiculous a tactic as it may be, it worked – although to what result, this we never see.

For that reason, perhaps the most interesting aspect of this upcoming stretch is whether or not it will go immediately into matters of relationship – as Saki did essentially pin-point her sister before the finale. However, there’s of course the possibility of more tournament rounds to go through before any of the more interpersonal elements begin. Nonetheless, it would be most preferred if the second season didn’t directly open up with some vehement mahjong death tournament or the sort – a light-hearted introduction would be ideal prior to any over the top nopan action.

With that all said, hopefully this series doesn’t tantalize us with its absence for too long.

As much as I enjoyed watching both seasons, I really didn’t like how they cut off. After reaching the end of Season 2, I was actually waiting for a next new episode, two weeks later discovering it had concluded.

This series is lovable with nopan, oppai, lolis and of course mahjong, but I hope that this time, they give more closure to a season, rather than ending with a clear objective for the main character(s) reaching their near pinnacle.

Regardless of that minor irk, I’m anticipated.

It’s not over – Achiga was a side-story, Saki s1 is the main story, and Achiga still has around three episodes that will soon premiere. This “third season” is a direct sequel to the first season of Saki.

They merely pulled a Fate/Zero. While it’s not the main arc of the story, I just didn’t like it tailing off so abruptly. Don’t get me wrong as it works, pushing the Achiga side of the story too far ahead of Saki, or dating it too early with a big delay before continuing the Saki side might be problematic in a way. It just comes off as a small inconvenience.

Hopefully these three episodes will be all the worth in setting up the next arc on Saki’s side.

From the promo video, does this mean that Achiga will also get a second season?

The first part is an advertisment for the remaining Achiga-hen episodes. After that there is the announcement of the the new season and a few scenes that shows some characters from side-B, iirc these scenes are all from Achiga-hen… hmm, maybe the last one with crying/lost Saki is new, but I’m not sure.
