Apparently, the impending 15th disaster of Sword Art Online revolves features the characters making various empty facial expressions – as if all simply too decayed in the mind to do anything outside of a videogame.
Besides the fact they’re poorly designed, the characters of this series already came off as moronic when they were imprisoned within an online dating game – now outside of the game, it looks that everyone is brain dead. A few social outcasts of the many who went into a coma have awaken – yet apparently, no one cares about these losers. If they were meaningful characters, one wouldn’t simply expect, but it would be plain logic that media, government, or family would come to surround those who have come back to life to question them regarding their extended sleep.
More so idiotic, it seems that protagonist’s first order of business upon arriving back to reality is to chase down his 2-D girlfriend – aware that he must hunt her down before she becomes seduced by the “real world”, and allows some other males to inject two years worth of a certain fluid inside her, as according to Sword Art Online volume one.
Perhaps, however, she may prove as faithful as the protagonist when it comes to RPG game romance – in which case he has little reason to fret as second dimensional love is seemingly the only true form of intimacy in Sword Art Online.
On another note, the criminal behind it all is still roaming around free and cheerfully – implying that in world of Sword Art Online, all advanced technology is foremost poured into engineering online dating simulator games, rather than something menial like law enforcement. It would be thought of as common sense that after several years, and in a realm where 10,000 people can become trapped in a virtual world, that law enforcement can find one man with a registered business address and several readily available photographs of himself.
Yet indeed, being a leading character in Sword Art Online is the greatest immunity to anything which one could have – and the series is set to still further become even more hilariously horrible as it continues.

“one wouldn’t simply expect, but it would be plain logic that media, government, or family would come to surround those who have come back to life to question them regarding their extended sleep.”
because 6000+ people waking up in a coma after 2 years is not a big deal, it happens everyday

“…In other news, 6000 people woke up from a coma… AND NOW FOR THE WEATHER! Back to you John!”

i have imagined that happening just now, and LoL’d so hard

“one wouldn’t simply expect, but it would be plain logic that media, government, or family would come to surround those who have come back to life to question them regarding their extended sleep.”
I have questioned myself many times and realized author had just skipped it. I’m so smart.
That seems like he only wanted to focus about “game” and ignore what “did” or “would” happen in real life.

“ignore what “did” or “would” happen in real life.”
He realized the plot was flawed and just bailed away from any of the logical stuff. None of this would matter if he didn’t to such extensive lengths in threshing out the concept of 10,000 trapped away from society in the opening.

As you can see a few thousand people waking up at the same time from a long term coma, NORMAL! OR maybe it’s supposed to be funny how the goverment, health institutions, police, and other people in authority don’t care. In that case it’s funny, because it’s similar to real life.

hell yeah Suguha! finally! I can’t wait for this ep =D
Oct 11, 2012 @ 10:18 CDT
me too, can’t wait too see what horrible things SAO has in store for us
Oct 11, 2012 @ 10:19 CDT
Same, I can’t wait to make fun of everything.
Oct 11, 2012 @ 12:27 CDT
How do you know that media/family and all that stuff didn’t approach the people who woke up from their comas? There’s not much you can surmise from preview images alone.
Suguha looks really bad though. That character design…

Because the protagonist just got up and walked out the hospital without anyone caring – and these images, as well as the PVs, show him simply prancing around after another online dating game.

“Besides the fact they’re poorly designed”
I disagree and agree with both terms. The only character design I dislike from what I’m seeing is Kirito. The 3rd picture his eye browns are not correctly design – it’s all squiggly.
The very first picture (one that looks like the daughter of Kirito and Asuna) I like her eyes. They’re of coure a focal point in terms of art.
Asuna on the other hand, she looks radiant – the shadows and highlights are very well in place in the composition.
As commenting to this article – Asuna with her nerve gear, looks like she’ll be trapped in the game and whatnot. Still, as much as I enjoy this anime, I hope Asuna will wake up in no time.

The shadows are average as per the two scenes she’s seen here – that, however, does not alleviate the lacking design overall.
“They’re of coure a focal point in terms of art.”
That’s relative and doesn’t define quality alone.

you know what else is the focal point? everything else, if the eyes were the only thing to base on in terms of deeming character designs good, it wouldn’t be that hard to design them

Last time on SAO, still sucks.
Is Silica going to reappear?
Oct 11, 2012 @ 15:46 CDT
That would be a good move – so probably not.
