An elemental workshop.

As a testament to how much of an attention deficit this series has, Sword Art Online from episode 15 and onward will apparently be based around a fairy and elf themed RPG – spitting all over everything prior.

The clip below is an official preview of Sword Art Online’s “second season” – and as if the “first season” wasn’t inconsistent enough in itself, this upcoming segment of the series is just urinating atop the 14 episodes released till now since those spectacles seemingly don’t even mean anything as per the series canon. The harem adventure is apparently set to continue even more horrible than ever – and Sword Art Online is merely prancing in its vanity while A-1 Pictures profits from merchandise on this abomination.

“Sword Art Online” birthed 14 episodes, all of which amounted to nothing – and the in-game mastermind of it all even saying himself he doesn’t know what the purpose of any of it was. For solid measure, this video serves as an answer to what the series and relevant studio as a whole felt towards those 14 episodes – absolutely nothing.

It seems that after returning from a several year comma, the Sword Art Online crew decided there was no better way to live their lives than jump right back into another online dating scheme trying to pass off as a game of the “RPG” genre. Just when one thought Kirito may be able to get through reality by at least being able to secure the pity of others – he tosses away reality yet again.

Besides the lack of substance in all those episodes past, the protagonist of this series is certainly starting to appear quite superficial – assuming he wasn’t such already.

Enjoyed the anime but I think this is way too much they should have ended it

      • Anonymous says:

It kinda benefits the manga because the whole series is not just based on one game take the different seasons in like how in Naruto and Naruto Shippuden advanced. This is also a big one up for die hard fans due to this is also a part of the main canon. Simply put that its a new season that shows more of Kirito’s life and Asuna’s life. This is all my opinion I haven’t gotten into reading the next part but i think they will the remove the whole you cant log out scheme and show us there lives just like in the preview with the Kendo sparring match and Asuna in the coma. I can’t wait for it

  • Anonymous says:

and that arc has the incest angle. Harem Art Online it is.

    • Seven says:

Its already been Harem Art Online – only it’s so disgustingly awful, it should be called something else instead.

      • Anonymous says:

Lol how is it a harem sure a couple girls like him but kirito always stays with Asuna and by the time its like volume 5 and above there rarely is anything related to more and more girls liking him… Lilica and lisbeth barely show up and even when they do they dont show any hint of affection anymore o.o

        • Seven says:

This article is about the animation of Sword Art Online – so your comment is irrelevant.

          • Anonymous says:

And the animation is based of the light novel…. Basically everythin that happened in the light novel happens in the anime so techically you are also calling the light novels a harem…

            • Seven says:

Come back when you know what you’re talking about:

              • Anonymous says:

Sure an animation is supposed to be something “new” but if that animation follows the story which in this case it does… Then basically the harem part which doesnt show up in the light novel that much shouldnt show up in the anime and also that harem your talkig about it came out in like what epsidoe 4 and 5? After that it was pretty much all asuna x kirito how is that harem art online sure you may call it a harem but that doesnt make the series itself a complete harem…. Its not like every episode the girls trying to get kirito

              • Seven says:

The animation has its own story – does the animation start with an opening sequence introducing you into the anime, or with a minute and a half warning telling you what pages of the light novel you should have read before watching?

And the generic romance aspects remain, that’s not changing evidently – and the past doesn’t go away either.

              • Anonymous says:

However even if that is so… The main story is from the light novel… Everything that happened in the light novel happened in the anime with a few exceptions on the specific details that the anime left out… How is that a “different” story when basically its just the light novel animated…

              • Seven says:

                Because it’s not one dimensional.

      Agree with this.

    • alan says:

Thats pretty lame, i was hoping for them to show some real life stuff but oh well. Is pretty funny how after they were trapped 2 years on a game they still feel like playing another one.

      • frost says:

The game was too addictive. Maybe all those who had died have been thrown into Alfheim Online by Akihiko Kayaba which includes Asuna so Kazuto decided to go after her.

        • triton6783 says:

I doubt that the writers would be creative enough to think of a plot twist like that

        • gargamesh says:

Or they were just too dumb and said ” hey let’s play another game like SAO, maybe it’s FINE”

          • Anonymous says:

Actually Asuna and 300 SAO players became trapped in a game called Alflheim online… Kirito finds out Asuna is trapped so he decides to go into the game to save her and the 300 SAO players. The person who trapped them is not Kayaba but Asuna’s fiance in real life… Basically Asuna and 300 SAO players just had really bad luck while Kirito has to now go and save them

            • Seven says:

Too bad the anime doesn’t tell us any of that.

              • Anonymous says:

Actually in the light novel it didnt tell that right away either lol…. It told eerything towards the end when Kirito met Asuna again

            • gargamesh says:

So Basically, the Author turned it into official shonen by having someone trap them every time

              • Seven says:

Let’s do this again, and again and again.

              • Anonymous says:

No actually he didnt make them trapped over and over again… After aflheim kirito and asuna and friends just decide to continue playing aflheim… For example Rosario which is one of the light novel
Volumes is taken place in aflheim where asuna is the main character and a new character pops up and the story revolves around them not being trapped somewhere… Being trapped only happened in the first 2 arcs

              • Seven says:

“Being trapped only happened in the first 2 arcs”

                Of the light novel…

              • Anonymous says:

Well theres 10 volumes that came out and theres about 5 arcs in total i think and the first one is where they get trapped in SAO because layaba wated to recreate his own world he always wanted while the second one the person who trapped 300 sao players wanted to have the power to control people’s emotions usin the nerve gear… Of course noone would want to play it if they knew and he did it sercretly…. The doctors knew they didnt eake up but didnt know what was goong on and kirito only finds out all that like 3/4th of the way in the arc… Although they were trapped technically i dont really think its the same concept

            • frost says:

              . . . So I was pretty close on a random guess. . . nice :)

  • Anonymous says:

Silica is probably the only redeeming quality of Sword Art Online.

At least when compared to the other loli Yui, Silica isn’t that annoying and the model is completely original.

  • avatar flamestrike says:

Well, SAO will continue as usual. x.x If you don’t like what you I’m saddened to say it doesn’t get any better.

  • gargamesh says:

oh come on, i was sick for a while and then SAO turns out to be more horrible? now it’s even worse than guilty crown, character designs turn to be from horrible to horrible and gay, and now they turn out to be more generic than ever, so

    new season=new horrible anime

SAO -> FAO-Fairy Art Online or whatever your minds may call it…

  • Anonymous says:

This is where the “story-line” turns into “save peach from bowser”…yep it’s gonna be epic let me tell you.

  • triton6783 says:

Before I had at least semi-decent music, but even that seems to have been replaced by the SAO of AW way of making everything worse for the sake of saving themselves some money.

  • Hawkward says:

I’d like to see what the Light Novel readers have to say about this.

Seriously, episode 1 was the delicious looking food that we were baited into eating, episode 2-14 was the processing of said food… a nasty process if I do say so myself. Episode 15 and onwards is the crap that comes out the other end as it washes down the sewer with all the other shit anime, only for it to become recycled garbage.

In other words, a graphic way of saying SAO just plain sucks.

    • Seven says:

I noticed the series was lackluster with episode one when it debuted – and it turned out to be as beleived.

    • triton6783 says:

I managed to think that the delicious looking food that used to be Sword Art Online lasted up until episode 4, and then it turned out the food was poisoned with a generic story, boring characters, and many, many, many slideshow “action” scenes.

  • frost says:

    I was hoping for GGO next. . . .

    • triton6783 says:

It at least looks like it is possible it might pick up there, but with how the anime is currently going, it will probably just keep going to continue to get worse.

  • Anonymous says:

Well, it’s still good MMO setting, little closer to modern day MMORPG this time, leveless system, but its still early 2000 grinder, there will be plot twist, gameplay wise. But then again, it is not hard to write good MMO.

  • Anonymous says:

I don’t get it. in videogames, when a new game is announced, a trailer is released, and people start to badmouth the game before even trying it, the entire internet community go against them, saying that if you didn’t try the game you can’t talk bad about it. uncharted 1 was good, the 2 is announced, wait to try the game to say something about it’s quality. why isn’t this the same for animes? wait to see the episode (next week?) to judge it, and this is still a MMO, is that strange to see fairies in a MMO? don’t think so.

  • Anonymous says:

I know the show sucks to you, but get your facts right. I’ve often noticed that you judge too soon, Seven. Kirito doesnt arbitrarily start playing another RPG because he’s a moron who got addicted. FYI, Asuna and some other players still havent come out of their coma for reasons unknown and Kirito gets a clue that Asuna might be trapped in the game Alfeim online. This is the main plot of this arc. So I know that you get a lot of pleasure by critisizing SAO, but at least get your facts correct- you’re not only downgrading the anime, but also the Light Novels by doing it, which, in my opinion are quite enjoyable. So yeah, just wanted to say this.

    • Seven says:

I know that you get a lot of pleasure by trying to defend the animation based on aspects of the light novel – but the series has already output 14 episodes, all of which went nowhere. It doesn’t matter where the anime goes from here, it’s already ruined because it wasted over half of its airtime.

      • Anonymous says:

I’m defending the Light Novel, NOT the animation, and i mentioned it quite clearly. Critisize the anime for the right things is all I’m saying. You got some facts wrong and were critisizing the plot elements, which is equivalent to critisizing the light novel. And also, it is NOT truly a harem. The male protagonist here shows absolutely no romantic interest in anyone else except Asuna and theres a lot of screen time for their romance as you can see. Yes, his sister(actually cousin or something- dont remember, been a long time since i read the light novel) has strong feelings for him, but i feel that branding an anime as a harem sometimes just gives off the wrong feel, even though by technicalities it might be.

As far as the anime goes, they completely ruined a lot of things, most prominently, the fight scenes, and the characterization. There were some fights which i was eagerly looking forward to, but they turned out so lame. To tell you frankly, i still enjoy SAO because i have read the light novels. As a stand alone, the anime fails- i know that. The romance too is just inexplainable and completely rushed. The character development for both Asuna and Kirito was almost non existent in the anime(apart from the Sachi thingy, which was portrayed so so in the anime). This isnt the case in the light novel. Anyway, I’m not gonna rant about how I found the light novels enjoyable here, but the anime could have been so much more epic…..and i’m not expecting it to change much in the 2nd season btw.

But yeah, one more point to be noted about SAO is that its not exactly what you expect of an MMORPG anime(badass fights, twists and turns, bloody boss monsters etc- you know the dungeons and dragons type). But then, SAO isnt meant to be like that. It kinda reminds me of the .hack series, which is also well known to be called boring by many, and just beautiful by some others at the same time. I’m not saying the SAO anime is beautiful, so dont bug me on word play on this. Its a difference of opinion, and there just happen to be a lot of people on one side (I’m talking about the absolute hate base and ridiculing others whose opinions don’t match). I think you can be a bit more broad minded and accept that there are people who like it, for reasons which might be incomprehensible from your viewpoint, you know the romance part maybe. i dunno, just saying. I feel the same way regarding certain things, but oh well, i try to deal with it.

And yeah, i’m resorting to reply as anonymous because i forgot my password since i’m not active here. lol. i’ve to hit that forgot password thing but i feel too lazy :p Anyway, I’m a regular visitor on the site. Kudos for the regular good posts.

And for those annoying idiots who just want to say “too long didnt read” , frankly my dearies, i dont give a damn.

        • Seven says:

Well, you’re commenting on an article about the animation – I don’t care less about the light novel.

“You got some facts wrong and were critisizing the plot elements, which is equivalent to critisizing the light novel. And also, it is NOT truly a harem. Too bad the anime portrays it differently. These are whole two separate works – your logic is incorrect by putting the light novel in the same league as the animation to begin with.

“I think you can be a bit more broad minded and accept that there are people who like it, for reasons which might be incomprehensible from your viewpoint, you know the romance part maybe”

I don’t care who likes it or not – but if you’re going to argue with me about the quality of the animation, then I expect you defend the animation based on aspects of the animation.

        • gargamesh says:

“As far as the anime goes, they completely ruined a lot of things, most prominently, the fight scenes, ”

I completely agree with you about every fight being lame, even the last fight wasn’t that exciting, and didn’t send the usual chill in my spine like everything else does, it was just plain messy and boring

“The romance too is just inexplainable and completely rushed”

yeah, to think you would make love in a game?, nahh i jest but yeah their romance thingy, didn’t really strike as a romance thingy, it was just out of place

“But yeah, one more point to be noted about SAO is that its not exactly what you expect of an MMORPG anime(badass fights, twists and turns, bloody boss monsters etc- you know the dungeons and dragons type). But then, SAO isnt meant to be like that”

like it was said before, nobody would be expecting this kind of MMORPG if not for the first episode, the setting, and the genre
“As a stand alone, the anime fails- i know that. ”

OHHH, the anime fails alright, THE ANIME FAILS

If there’s a proven problem, to defend it shows a flaw on that party – particularly when, as seen here, they defend it all so incorrectly.

The light novel has nothing to do with the anime series.

If you like a series, it automatically doesn’t make it good.

Popularity, or any other similar attribute, is not a metric quality.

I should feel bad, I think I enjoyed Yosuga no Sora more than this show (a whole lot more).

  • Anonymous says:

Wow so much hate in the SAO reviews here.
I have read all the novel volumes up to 8 and I find the anime series to be a nice opportunity to see some of what is in the novel.
Though I understand that from the PoV of those who have not read the novels there are several plot holes as to why some important things happened. This is of course a mistake of the anime makes.
What happens in the second season is that Asuna has still not being released from the nerve gear coma cause a new villain is keeping her mind imprisoned in another VRMMO for certain reasons which I will not spoil any further.
If you wish for a happy ending you need to watch the rest of this episodes. Thankfully this anime will not end like Guilty crown
• triton6783 says:

Don’t worry, nobody who visits this site will even care if you spoil anything, they are just that uninterested with this anime.

      • Anonymous says:

On the contrary, I think they are interested in hating it with a bit too much passion. >_<

If SAO which just got a somewhat disappointingly directed animation (too many side stories made me looking forward to ep 14 so that that arc ends)is treated like that I wonder how much hate any anime who are just censored generic fanservice in hopes of selling blu rays are hated

I hope they manage to fit the events in ALO much better than the SAO ones since ALO had no filler side stories occurring during the main second arc.

If anything for a novel reader an animation is giving the chance to see things he reads in something better than sparse black and white illustrations

        • Seven says:

          “somewhat disappointing”?

Yeah, the animation is terrible, the character designs are generic, the romance is irrelevant, childish, and cliche, the plot is awfully presented, and there’s no likable characters – that’s definitely just somewhat disappointing. Just somewhat.

I think they made the anime just like a game. I’ve seen many posts now about how bad the anime is but if you think about it, the side stories are just side quests. there has never been a lvl-based game where you can do the storyline only and still make it to the end.

    • Seven says:

  • Anonymous says:

If someone makes a movie of your favorite novel, do you want them to change everything around? It’s happened to quite a lot of books I like, and I hate it. In some cases, like “Mad Max”, you don’t even recognize that a movie is based on a specific novel (Damnation Alley by Roger Zelazny). By all accounts, this series follows the light novels quite well, so anyone not liking it for that reason… tough.

As to the content by itself… I’m a hardcore MMORPG gamer, a guild leader of a semi-hardcore guild since 2004. And the situations encountered, the types of characters running around (including the main character) are extremely recognizable to me. PKers, elite guilds, solo achievers, griefers, thieves (oh, I could write a book about those alone) loot issues, greedy little [very bad word] who think they are entitled just because they breathe, people who treat other people as if they were NPCs… it’s all there, and put together quite well. Do you think any of the characters or situations are cliche or exaggerated? I can assure you, I’ve seen it almost all of it happen (none of us have thus far gotten locked into a game), and often worse. Love, jealousy, betrayal, staggering rivalries over the vaguest of reasons, loyalty beyong anything reasonable. Psychologists could (and do) happily write multiple dissertations over any one MMO.

The quality of the animation is not something I worry overmuch about. For me, the animation is just visual support for the story and the characters, and it did this adequately, I thought. So ‘meh’ to anyone who disses it.

    • gargamesh says:

“The quality of the animation is not something I worry overmuch about. For me, the animation is just visual support for the story and the characters, and it did this adequately, I thought. So ‘meh’ to anyone who disses it.”

You see, that’s the thing here, the animation and visuals are terrible, along with the story that is frankly stupid and characters which frankly lack common sense.

PLEASE, read the articles and comments, because you’re only making yourself look unintelligent, since what you’re saying are already proven wrong by those above, past articles, and past comments.

I personally loved SAO, and hope for another season. If you didn’t like it, then you shouldn’t have watched it. I have never seen a better anime, and I don’t appreciate a bunch of you knocking something other people like. • gargamesh says:

“I personally loved SAO, and hope for another season.”

Well, like the comments above you are saying, which you clearly don’t read, you liking something, doesn’t make it automatically good.

“If you didn’t like it, then you shouldn’t have watched it.”

You see, that’s the thing, we want to make our statements credible, so what’s the best way to do that? Watching it actually so we actually know what we are talking about, instead of looking like a dumb prick.

“I never saw the point of Clannad, but I don’t denounce it publicly like your doing to SAO.”

Maybe that’s exactly why you LOVE SAO, Clannad is not bad in actuality, you just don’t like it or didn’t understand it, it was a spectacular work about love and family, if you still don’t understand, read this article elaborating it:

      http://seventhstyle.com/2013/02/24/clannad-a-beautiful-tale-of-family

Unless you don’t know how to read like what you’re doing now not even reading past articles and the comments above to see why exactly we hate it, in contrast to us watching the show in actuality to elaborate why it’s bad.
