Perhaps intended to be a sadistic gag of some sort, Madoka Magica’s most recent two film promotional images both show the busty golden haired mahou shoujo smiling – face distorted in one illustration.
The first matter to derive amusement from is how Mami is seen with such an overly zealous grin – alongside a glimmering appearance of confidence as well, and in multiple images at that. For a second, she practically looks as if she isn’t merely a worthless side-character who dies near-immediately – and one may indeed be fooled to think she has any other notable elements to her besides her cup size.
Reality is a harsh instance of worst case scenario – and it seems not even a simple facial illustration can go well for Mami. As seen in the image above, to be blunt, she’s hideous. Her visage’s various details are horribly misaligned – mouth to the far right, nose to the far left, she looks like Picasso’s take on magical girls.
Insult to injury, she wears one of those abominable facial expressions before being demoted from living status.
One wouldn’t expect any sob stories from a simple outside look of her character, she gives off a fairly pompous impression in fact when examining these illustrations – arrogant and ample in the upper body. Yet whenever one weighs in on how she meets her end, it seems cruel in a manner admittedly entertaining, resulting in that the sight of her as seen here is hilarious – in all the wrong ways perhaps.
