A preview clip sampling the first episode of “Chuunibyo demo Koi ga Shitai!” has been released – a testament to unoriginal character design everywhere, whilst also prostrating down to conventionalities of genre.
It was apparent from the first key visual, the characters are not too imaginative in their appearances or overall style in general – mannerisms and poses included. Yet even with that accounted for, the series seemingly still has room to drop another tier in terms of character design. Looking at the animation in full motion, as per this PV of episode one, the characters appear even more so as if incarnations of the many Kyoto Animation tropes than in theory.
At least on the not-so-bright side however, the whole atmosphere seems fittingly suffocated from a lack of the rare elixir “creativity”. Its been expected for a while, and well-understood as the basis of this series, although now seeing the standard slice of life romance theme in action is feeling akin to being lost in a forest and repeatedly passing through the same oddly shaped tree over, and over again – only there is no hope for survival in this case.
Despite the premise being little more than a highschool love story reborn, the concept would have still had a chance if it transpired in a manner individualistic to its name – such as Hyouka. However, the reason that such seems without hope is even assuming a fair turn of events does indeed occur, one must wonder if the weight of characters saturated in the fatty acids of commonality could be so easily matched or outweighed by other elements.
If the worst case scenario of utter failure occurs, at least one should have already been aware of the possibility and reason in advance.

Even after several PVs, I still have absolutely no Idea, what this show is truly about. But still going to watch at least a couple of eps for the animation.

It’s a typical “boy meets girl” romance with random intercessions of nonsensical fantasies.

Replying to a wrong comment :/

It’s moeblob meets “what is this, Hyouka?”
It seems the character designs bleed into subsequent projects for Kyoto Animation. Just look at K-On to Haruhi S2. The faces in Haruhi S2 looked more K-On than Haruhi S1. The guy in this one looks too much like Hyouka

Several characters look Hyouka, that blonde girl in the picture for instance.
Oct 1, 2012 @ 11:36 CDT
That guy also looks 80% like Hyouka’s protagonist.

He looks like a deformed version of Oreki.
Oct 1, 2012 @ 12:03 CDT
deformed oreki with bigger eyes and brown (correct me if i’m wrong) hair
Oct 1, 2012 @ 12:19 CDT
You’re right, Oreki’s hair is far darker.

Looks like the love child of oreki and satoshi to me….

You know, you could make a game out of this.

Oreki Jr.

HNNNNNGH…
That greatsword-wielding kid is so cute~

I like appearance of the girl with a hair clip. The MC and her looks like they could make a good couple. But after seeing the PVs and general vibe of the show, me getting hit by a meteorite has a bigger chance of happening.
Oct 1, 2012 @ 10:45 CDT
There’s a greater chance of both of us being hit by meteorites simultaneously than those two getting together.

That’s a whole lot of moeblob! Oh my god, everything about this show is saturated in fatty moe blob acids. x.x At least if I choose to watch it I’ll go in knowing full well exactly what to expect. Well, it’s Kyoani so it probably won’t turn out too bad despite the generic everything.
Oct 1, 2012 @ 13:49 CDT
It’ll be the best generic anime series there is.
Oct 1, 2012 @ 14:03 CDT
Moeblob: my favorite kind of blob.
Oct 1, 2012 @ 20:04 CDT
KyoAni has perfected the art of polishing moeblob until its blobular surface shines with all the shininess a blob of moe can muster.
Oct 1, 2012 @ 20:55 CDT
10 cents, shine your moeblob.
Oct 1, 2012 @ 22:59 CDT
The eyepatch girl reminds me of Mei from the anime Another…
What’s up with the kid holding a sword in the PV? Some toy for a birthday?
Oct 2, 2012 @ 8:32 CDT
Some moeblob with weapon fetish thing.
