A dual set of commercials have begun airing for Magi – each being less action geared than earlier clips, yet more adventure driven instead, with quite a charming mood which feels both lighthearted and brave.
Within the video above, the first clip’s greatest item of substance is how it shows us the shota Aladdin protagonist getting along with the blonde bishounen friend of his – whilst all the while, the slave girl is seen still locked up in her natural habitat. Those details make it simple to figure that what we’re being shown is the start of an event – or the origin of how our characters come together. The wonderful aspect in this is how the series presents a mood most fitting – a pair of fellows in the desert go from living reserved lives, to extravagant ones.
They apparently stumble upon the slave girl – and like any heroes of a virtuous tale, it seems only reasonable to rescue the damsel in ragged dress. Now unsurprisingly, the full episode is obviously withheld till the actual launch of the series – yet the PV excellently manages to sample the thrills one should expect.
At the scene where Aladdin rips off his turban for instance, one starts gaining the adrenaline of a heightening tension. Better yet however, once the second clip starts, which is an extended spin of the first, take special note of blonde bishounen’s foot once it’s shoved in our face – it’s praiseworthy not only for the accurate footwear fashion of the region, but also in that one can feel the weight slamming against the ground.
As meager a specific as it may be, the dust rising upward after the foot stomps down is major in making the movement feel natural – not to mention, the animation already seems rather superb as is.
Zooming out from the finer points, this series gets momentum going from the PV alone – and this preview is likely based after only the first, or perhaps the second episode at most. Assuming that is the case, the path forward in Magi is bound to be inevitably exhilarating.

If the original PV wasn’t action packed, I’d be pretty disappointed right now.

C’mon guy, be patient. You really want them ignore main story and concentrate just action in PV ?

I haven’t read the manga, nor can I understand what they’re saying but I can feel it. The blonde guy feels like, he’s going to become my favorite character in this series or at least in main characters.

He should have his own theme music that plays whenever he’s on screen.
