While some may continually seek improvement, Accel World seems to be quite the opposite – a magazine illustration of the series features a whole party of girls, all in bathing suits, in a purely ridiculous display.
Forget the fact that the series is using undressed 2-D females as vehicles to promote itself – this image is hideous in terms of aesthetic traits. The background of rocks, trees, and whatnot, as well as the foreground of water, both appear unfitting in that they fail to blend whatsoever – there is no shadow or other aspect to formulate the proper definition.
There is a pool of darkness underneath the girls – a quickly slapped down puddle of shadow which does leave the floor feeling solid despite a being near totally brainless addition, yet the shadow of the surrounding rock enclosure is incredibly poor as it is merely consistent all across, with no regard for girls laid against it. The girls are made to look as if sitting nude in front of a photographer’s backdrop – then again however, even a plastic sheet with a printed image on top doesn’t give off an impression as lifeless as the setting seen here.
The girls seem presented as if intended to appeal to onlookers through the basic anime female archetypes of busty, flat chest, and toddler for instance – each of whom also sport facial expressions and poses which sit at the epitome of the recycling stack. And as a side-note, one can’t even figure out what to make of the loli having spasms in the water.
One could formerly say on a few occasions that Accel World still may have had appealing artwork despite the subject matter being less than respectable – although now it looks that the series has finally lost even that.

Seems like both SAO and AW are prostituting their female characters for popularity.
