More “To Love-Ru Darkness” pre-release images are available for those concerned – and if one isn’t yet concerned, they perhaps will be as they see these stills showing less skin than what many had hoped for.
First of all, immediately below one will see an enhanced quality spin of one early look image already made available a while back – and as mentioned when it was released, it appears as if from one of those typical harem scenes in which the forgettable male component of the series conveniently awakens from a deep sleep to find that ample breasts are hovering over him, and for no apparent reason other than he’s the main character.
Now the interesting aspect is how aside from that single sampling of an event, the other two frames don’t emphasize the female body salaciously at all – which is what one would have naturally came to look forward to considering the genre and source material of this series.
This isn’t to say To Love-Ru Darkness will be free of second dimensional indecency, that’s highly doubtful, and in fact, impossible given the story and concept of the series – yet one can still see a present barrier of quality in how a more reputable harem romance, such as this, needn’t belittle itself with excessive eroticism in the marketing. Those who recall the last commercial clip of the series will also be able to remember a similar modesty being present in that promotional endeavor as well.
Unlike the other oppai festivals which have airing from the beginning of the year, starting with High School DxD, to the recently concluded atrocities of the ending summer season, To Love-Ru Darkness seems as if it will be the first to boast meaningful elements to it beyond simply the standard round of chest and underwear.

You wouldn’t think so, but the Darkness manga sequel actually has more of a significant, non-episodic plot in it. There are ecchi scenes that are even more ridiculous and over-the-top than ever throughout the manga of course, but the fact that it has some semblance of a plot in spite of that is what convinced me to continue reading it.
Hopefully, the anime will be similar to the source material.

I’m familiar with the presence of some plot-like substance within To Love-Ru Darkness – although I know for sure that excessive female emphasis is never necessary. Then again, that’s the point of an ecchi series – so to have one with real plot on the side is quite something indeed.
