Little Busters! brings out a fifth CM as its debut nears – yet no differently than the previous few, this latest clip seems to simply incite the thought that perhaps, watching this series may be much worse than torture.
The 16 seconds spent on viewing the video below feel to have been an unbearable eternity in retrospect – as if they didn’t transpire painfully enough. Contained within, the flaws are nothing new – yet to see them is akin to experiencing a hurricane coming through, no matter how much one may readily anticipate, or have gone through this tragedy, it’s not any less catastrophic or disturbing.
A Flash animation could have been better – the characters seen within this promotional clip move like cardboard cutouts being piloted by a puppeteer, and similarly, they’re just as stiff. As one can notice, the characters rarely move even when the situation calls for it – and when they do actually make a motion, their joints pivot in a manner abrupt, awkward, and unnatural. People are not so dense that they stand like statuettes when not directly engaging in any action – yet it seems when a studio has low standards, there’s little regards for common sense.
Adding insult to injury, the concluding segment of the short CM shows what is no more than a still frame being panned across – implying that such is what one should expect come the series premiere, practically spitting in the face of many who admire Little Busters.
One might as well call off the search and rescue team, as there’s seemingly no longer any realistic chance of finding a single degree of enjoyment from this upcoming series.

Looks like SAO has a new rival already, at this rate we’ll forget that Guilty Crown even existed (whether that is a good or bad thing, is purely subjective)
Sep 24, 2012 @ 21:11 CDT
It’s almost fascinating how series are just getting so blatantly awful on a consistent basis season after season.
If you want to see something unique or novel, you have to go back in time for some reason.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 6:25 CDT
Back to the Future! Couldn’t resist the pun… xD But it’s almost exactly a perfect description for anime these days. It’s demographic has changed too much, while it can be adapted to, anime really was at it’s peak between the 90′s and 00′s.
Anime that pay attention to this, tend to come out at least somewhat better than the “I’m a protagonist” horror show of the past few seasons.
Oh and on topic of Little Busters, it looks like a rehashed version of Shuffle, imo.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 11:31 CDT
I do agree with being a bad adaption and I just can’t help but feel bad, cause I’m also part of the “I’ve been waiting for this for years”.
BTW by 00′s until what year are we talking about???
Sep 24, 2012 @ 21:11 CDT
What’s with the grunting in the background?
Sep 24, 2012 @ 21:13 CDT
Probably a sign to show the prevalent retardation of the series.
Sep 24, 2012 @ 21:33 CDT
It doesn’t look that bad.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 8:20 CDT
It really doesn’t look bad if you have normal vision while wearing 5cm thick glasses coated with black paint while at the same time having a computer monitor that goes static every 5 seconds
Sep 25, 2012 @ 9:15 CDT
You’d be better watching it with binoculars, you’ll want to keep far away from this anime =/
Sep 25, 2012 @ 9:54 CDT
or even better use google maps’ satellite
Sep 25, 2012 @ 10:45 CDT
Or just don’t watch it.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 13:23 CDT
Actually, it DOESN’T look that bad indeed. Only a few moments are weird for me. And this is just a PV, I will reserve my full judgment and whether I will watch it or not when the anime airs.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 13:25 CDT
You were the one who originally mentioned it doesn’t look that bad, we’ve established that you believe as much – it would be more beneficial if you were to elaborate upon your reasoning rather than reiterate yourself.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 13:40 CDT
I don’t understand much of animation in general, but I will try. I just don’t like the extreme air of negativity here.
I’m loving the character designs. Masato and Kengo looks freaking cool, I prefer that over KyoAni’s giant eyes. Rin also looks pretty cute. And the still shot you mentioned at the end… Wasn’t that AFTER the action scene had already happened?
Rin’s kick to Masato on the last CM just shows that the anime won’t have extremely gorgeous animation EVERY SINGLE frame. Heck, Kuroko no Basket by Production I.G has gorgeous animation most of the time, but a few episodes fell on quality a lot, with a lot of “stills”.
In general, with the community, I’m sensing a feeling of excitement for finally watching LB! animated(thus, they are feeling satisfied with the trailers, at least most of them). I’ve only found here such a insane amount of negativity regarding the whole project(no doubt, there was a lot of negativity when J.C Staff was announced to animate LB!, but that was mostly butthurt kids that wanted KyoAni).
Sep 25, 2012 @ 14:01 CDT
If you don’t like the negativity, I definitely encourage you to express your own view – and I appreciate that you’ve actually done so here, it’s definitely better than a simple statement.
“Masato and Kengo looks freaking cool”
But according to what metric? If you just personally like the character designs, that’s great for you – I can’t say anything about what people can or can’t like, although I can however express evident flaws according to aesthetic standards. The visuals are generally poorly done in the context of the animation despite the key visuals looking more so exquisite – which I’ve already described in the past.
“Wasn’t that AFTER the action scene had already happened?”
If someone gets kicked to face, they shouldn’t become totally lifeless like that – the series shows a blandly drawn scene and the camera just pans across the motionless characters, it’s very lacking.
“extremely gorgeous animation ”
It doesn’t have anywhere near gorgeous animation on any frame.
“the community”
I’m not sure what “community” that is, I don’t care about what others think to develop my own opinions and beliefs.
“I’ve only found here such a insane amount of negativity”
The negative aspects are with the anime, and they’re explained – if you disagree, do attempt to refute them.
Sep 26, 2012 @ 9:22 CDT
“I’m loving the character designs. Masato and Kengo looks freaking cool, I prefer that over KyoAni’s giant eyes. Rin also looks pretty cute.”
you know, if you compare detail, faces, template and character designs of LB of J.C staff to let’s say KyoAni’s Clannad of 2009, you might want to look up your definition of freaking cool and cute, i think you just seen Hyouka of KyoAni’s works, otherwise, you wouldn;t think so
“And the still shot you mentioned at the end… Wasn’t that AFTER the action scene had already happened?”
If by action you mean staying completely still and like stand there for a second showing a flashy background effect, yes it’s action
“(no doubt, there was a lot of negativity when J.C Staff was announced to animate LB!, but that was mostly butthurt kids that wanted KyoAni).”
you want to know why?, because KyoAni actually puts effort in their works, detail and quality is always present, unlike J.C. Staff that delivers horrible charcter designs, lackluster animation and what i;m guessing to appear in here again is the pitiful attempts in fanservice
In general, with the community, I’m sensing a feeling of excitement for finally watching LB! animated(thus, they are feeling satisfied with the trailers, at least most of them). I’ve only found here such a insane amount of negativity regarding the whole project
i was also excited for another one of Key’s works to be animated but seeing as they’ll go as far as to degrade it further and further, i see no reason to watch it but instead play but the VN itself, we are being negative because it simply is horrible, it could have been better than this, LB simply does not deserve this, Still frame, Ms paint background anime , surely you could have seen angel beats? it’ an example of one of key’s works , animated beautifully
Sep 25, 2012 @ 3:01 CDT
LB deserves more than this
Sep 25, 2012 @ 8:04 CDT
I know…oh god why?! 5 years damn it! They had 5 years and THIS is what they have to show for?!
Sep 25, 2012 @ 8:07 CDT
The thing is, this anime wasn’t made in five years – JC Staff hurriedly began planning it as soon as it was announced to the public several months back, and they’ve been working on it ever since, perhaps having finished only just recently. And also, consider that they’ve been working on it whilst dealing with the stack of other anime series they bulk release every season.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 8:24 CDT
it doesn’t matter how much J.C. Staff has, it is inevitable that what they make will be utterly ruined
Sep 25, 2012 @ 13:27 CDT
^damn, such negativity and hate for J.C Staff. They have hits and misses, not only misses.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 14:14 CDT
Their batting record however is tilted towards misses.
Sep 26, 2012 @ 9:06 CDT
J.C . Staff is is like a wannabe archer, they miss more than they hit
Sep 25, 2012 @ 5:57 CDT
This show looks terribad already, but butchering the VN’s story will not be better than Tsukihime.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 8:52 CDT
VN adaptations can either be pretty good like Higurashi or suck horribly like Umineko and Tsukihime. .
Well never played LB so I don’t really care about this but feel sorry for those who do lol..
Sep 25, 2012 @ 8:57 CDT
well, I too have not played LB, but seeing as they won’t do as much justice for this as KyoAni has did with Key works, IT. IS. JUST. WRONG.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 6:20 CDT
The world hate JC Staff
Sep 25, 2012 @ 8:07 CDT
You know… it’s really frustrating to have waited all this time for Little Busters to get animated. Only for the end result to look nothing like past key animated works. I mean… who are they fooling? Do they really think this is the kind of result the fans want? Hell, it seems these days that anime producers care nothing about what the fans want. They only think they do, and fail horribly in the process. Though at the same time they might not even care. These days, I can’t tell the difference, but either way its frustrating to see my favorite series animated so poorly. Which I’m not just talking about animation. I swear every time I see a series follow its canon roots, only to swerve off at the end into an original ending… it makes me want to hurt people.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 11:17 CDT
What a shit… I’ll hate JC STaff forever
Sep 25, 2012 @ 11:25 CDT
Wait you didn’t hate them before??? After all their adaptions, that bring only bring disgrace to its source material…..
Sep 25, 2012 @ 13:28 CDT
Not really. Have you watched Toradora? Nodame Cantabile? Honey and Clover?
Sounds like you don’t know what you are talking about.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 14:11 CDT
I agree on this, I don’t believe JC Staff is necessarily awful as they’re incapable – rather, they don’t bother. Most of their series, they make as if fulfilling fast food orders, Little Busters! included – however, they have shown that they can achieve if given the resources, and note, time is a resource.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 14:20 CDT
I thought Zero no Tsukaima was good…
until I read the Light Novels.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 14:26 CDT
I don’t believe the source material is actually relevant to the animation – they’re both separate works in themselves, and this isn’t to say either is good or bad, it’s just that they’re individual.
In certain cases, the light novel may be a better work of literature than the anime was an animation – that’s not surprising in the case of a JC Staff animation in particular as they’ve got quite a record of such.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 14:34 CDT
Now, it pains me to admit it but I’m actually wrong and just caught up by my hate. But in my defense, I haven’t liked an adaption made by them since 2010 and no matter how old it is, I can’t forgive them for tsukihime.
BTW possible misunderstanding, at “After all” I meant to say all of their bad adaptions, and not everything they’ve adapted. Poor sentence sentence construction on my part.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 12:17 CDT
Deen looks even worse, although some of their past looks respectable.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 12:48 CDT
Yeah, I can’t vouch on how good deen is. Though I’ve heard they’re terrible, I’ve only seen their more or less famous works. And adding the fact, I haven’t read most of the original source. FSN and Rave Master are the only one that quickly pop in to mind, when we talk about absolute horror. If it’s not too much trouble, can someone say about how does some their adaptions compare to the source material? Most notably Law of Ueki, 07-Ghost, Kyou kara Maou, Samurai Deeper Kyo, Shōnen Onmyoji and Maria-sama ga Miteru
Sep 25, 2012 @ 13:44 CDT
A-1 Pictures usually stick with the original material pretty closely. Their animation on action scenes is also good. I just don’t like their oversimplified designs.
Madhouse is another, because they almost always animate good mangas with respect to the original material.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 14:02 CDT
“Their animation on action scenes is also good.”
Based on their currently ongoing series, no.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 14:25 CDT
Lol really? Thought the action scenes on SAO were mostly above average. Was really excited through them.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 14:29 CDT
Above average!?
They were barely on par with the 1970′s. I’m not sure what sort of history of anime viewing you have, I can’t blame you for not being familiar with something in this case – although there’s a multitude of older series, and I’m talking about from 2012 all the way to 197X, that have better action scenes and animation in general. The quality was really pitiful.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 14:21 CDT
What are you talking about?
Groove Adventure Rave? That was done by Studio Pierrot… and it’s million times better, than A-1′s shitty Fairy Tail adaptation… 1 fps + MS Paint, it’s terrible.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 14:48 CDT
Rave master was done by Deen(or at least according to all the sites I see), and was just a bad adaption. I disagree, while rave’s story is way better than fairy tail’s, fairy tail’s action sequence was actually good(or at least the hyped ones). However if we talk about regular action(walking, talking and etc), then I agree. The background is not all that great and it looked like they didn’t put effort in putting frames .
Sep 25, 2012 @ 15:18 CDT
Wow…
seems like you’re right about Deen, sorry for the confusion.
Anyways, I liked their animation much better (especially the art style, and how characters are looking), the art in Fairy Tail looks too simple, and far from awesome.
About the “hyped” fights, you may be right, there were some good action scenes in Fairy Tail, but overall I have to say that the adaption is very bad, thanks to its low budget animation, and character designs, which is really a shame, cause the manga has a really good art.
Sep 25, 2012 @ 22:48 CDT
There is no Little Buster anime
Sep 26, 2012 @ 9:05 CDT
i see what you did there
