An elemental workshop.

Date A Live” has unearthed its first PV – looking like a thrilling action series with generic harem elements heavily embedded within, or perhaps, a conventional harem merely attempting to be a series of action.

Having seen the wonderful character designs a while back, one naturally wished for this series’ success – this preview clip however, found below, doesn’t appear nearly as promising. Noticeable upon the opening seconds of the video, the visuals on a comprehensive scale aren’t particularly detailed or refined – they’re rather vanilla when it comes to the background elements, and this is a concern as the series clearly shows itself to be heavily dependent on the setting for some moments of major catastrophe.

However, as the animation does appear of a higher craftsmanship compared to the standard, one is led to believe it may not be too appropriate to denounce the series for lacking visuals as of yet – although as a side-note, the “standard” of today is not very challenging to meet. Nonetheless, we are then met with tragedy however, hope dismissed as early as it came – immediately after choosing to give the series the benefit of the doubt, it fills the screen with the horrific sight of the usual harem hospitality.

Concern begins to spread like a spilled liquid for the duration of the clip thereafter – the character designs are exquisite, that much is definite, yet based on the PV, one can’t figure if this series is placing action foremost, or banal harem romance. In respect to the actual animation, there isn’t enough seen to call it one way or the other – yet that which was shown wasn’t below average at least.

Whatever this series ultimately proves to be, adding rocket boosters to a rusty vehicle a spaceship does not make – if this is to be a series where all the heroines are vying to be deflowered by the protagonist in the usual scheme, it won’t have much a chance.

You know the series is about making girls fall in love with the main character, so that should be a little warning sign that this is definatly going to be a harem.

The question isn’t so much is it a harem, it is whether it will be a generic harem – i.e., all the girls love him for no apparent reason, pantsu, indecisiveness, and all the other spittle traits.

well, at least we won’t be complaining in terms of quality, although if the plot and characters turn out horrible , it might turn out to be the next guilty crown

Since the Main Hero (I mean the man) appeared to be so weak and nothing special (at least in this PV), I didn’t expect or even intend to watch his stupid face if it might happen.

I’m not keeping my hopes up for this…I dearly hope I’m wrong but something-some small voice in the back of my head is warning me about this…

But again, I dearly hope I’m wrong. I’d rather have another good show to look forward to than to make fun of.

The original character designer is Neptunia’s artist, so I’m already sold on watching this! :D

I’m going to watch this because of spectacular designs, yet the generic harem story is something that may disgust some (which is worrisome) unless it turns out well done.
