Key visual 90 of the K-Project makes a major revelation, it turns out the redheaded leather jacket wearing leader of the street gang Homra, a man known as “Mikoto”, is a cigarette smoker – possible nicotine addict.
The western fellow was long-realized as a smoker, yet now we see the driving force of the group also turn out to be of those with a fetishistic desire to inhale a dangerous vapor mix of particles and gases – and at this rate, the pack may may meet their end as result of cancer before ever getting involved in any significant battle. Yet onto more serious matters, it’s indeed not too common to see so many first-hand smokers within an anime series.
More meaningful however is how it all regards this specific frame – redhair looks to have a visage of frustration as indicated by the slant of his brow and clear absence of pleasure in his expression, not to mention, smoking is a common habit for when one is feeling down, therefor it’s not necessarily a risky claim to say that he’s likely feeling at least ever so slightly depressed for whatever reason.
It’s also of interest to consider who exactly he may be looking at – and we can, in fact, actually make a rather logical presumption. This is a frame taken from the anime series, and since we see Mikoto up-close, it means we’re looking at him from the perspective of someone within his established circle of relation. Now as Mikoto is looking downward at a significant angle, it means there is only one character short enough to fit the description – the gothic lolita.
A plausible scenario is that the loli pulled at his clothes to get his attention for whatever reason – and then he gave it to her. As for where it goes from there, we’ll have to wait until the series premieres.
