“Expelled From Paradise” is an upcoming film with Gen Urobuchi involvement, and the first key visual of the title has become available – placing the work in the ranks of “impressive” well in advance of release date.
It sounds fascinating from the start – the title alone has quite a wide variety of possible implication. It’s unsurprisingly likely that the aspect of being “Expelled From Paradise” will be seen either literally or metaphorically within the series – a worthwhile detail to keep in mind particularly as this work seems more to have great consideration into finer details, a title with deep-meaning versus the usual winding convoluted mess of a title found with an abundance of modern day series, most of which are harem romances incidentally.
Onto the visual, it has some evident sci-fi and futuristic themes – the glowing vivid colors are certainly entrancing, as is the starry background, but take specific notice of how in the pool of light behind our heroine, it looks as if there’s a spacecraft vehicle of some kind.
Perhaps what this illustration portrays is, in fact, the sight of our heroine being “Expelled From Paradise” – dropped off into a region of rocks and loneliness, exiled for whatever unclear reason.
Continuing beyond speculation, the circular pattern in the sky is a noteworthy facet to remember – indicting the presence of either arcane power, unprecedented technology, or simply some flashy special effects. In the first option, the ship engulfed in this whirlpool of light may be teleporting – alternatively, this could be the sight of a computerized altering of the atmosphere or the likes. As for the third likelihood, that’s sure to be present either way, and to no shock at that – given that TOEI Animation is working on this series, a studio renowned.
Examining our heroine, she’s fitted in some gear reminiscent to standard mecha musume stylings – and it’s worth explicitly recognizing that her feet appear fully encased in that metallic footwear of hers, although she’s not hovering, making it something of a mystery as to how she moves around. Yet a more critical feature to emphasize is prevalent, open the image full size and see how her garbs are ravaged – torn in a manner which indicates some definite exposure to rough treatment, meaning either abuse, accident, or an odd scenario in between.
Not forgetting the slices of radiant green, they may serve no other purpose than decor – however, they could also hold something of value to them, such as power.
A final mention of importance, her overall stance, pose, and appearance imply awareness of her bleak surroundings as she does indeed seem reserved and hesitant – and not only this, it also goes to show her injured state, particularly as she grasps her own arm, a common trait found with the injured man.

I concur – who would exile a bishoujo like this?

I’m not too fond of TOEI lately, I know that they have a good reputation, but looking at One Piece, Toriko, or any of their current ongoing series… it’s like they’re producing the animations with 1 fps, drawn in MS Paint.
The artwork itself looks really good though, both the background, and the character, and it doesn’t looks like some generic stuff either.
If Gen Urobuchi is also involved, I hope this will be some awesome film!

That’s not the case with Smile PreCure! – the art is, in fact, surprisingly exquisite.

It’s not a matter of if , it is a matter of how as long as Gen Urobuchi is involved

Gen Urobuchi..the name is enough to convince me to watch this

I was thinking the exact same thing. Gen Urobuchi! Oh cruel and merciless god! What are you planning now!?

Gen Urobochi is really great, but recently he has been working with a lot of hit or miss (or just miss, if you prefer) production companies, so everybody is on the edge of their seats waiting to see if Gen Urobochi + Bad Company = Good Product.

Well said – massive gambles going on, and ideally, the heroic savior of original stories, Gen Urobuchi, will come to the rescue.
It’d be amusing if his works made with the questionable studios turn out spectacular – but after he’s gone, Questionable Studio A goes back to garbage.

however, Gen Urobuchi+Good Company= Godly Offspring
(ex. Type-Moon, Ufotable, Gen Urobuchi)
