Sword Art Online’s 12th episode preview gives sampling of a fight scene, and it seems the elements actually move – proving another step forward in animation, placing the series practically on par with the 1980′s.
The video is below, and the online dating scheme, Sword Art Online, seems to have somehow yet again brought together a band of females who all center their gravitational force around the main character – as of course, the main character is always the center of the world in generic harem series. Yet as that’s all nothing new, it’s more worthwhile to focus on a baffling development which one would never have anticipated to see of this series – going to show it’s not all so predictable after all.
After encountering a swarm of dangerous amphibians, as the threat of warts is always a frightening concern, the protagonist steps up to face his responsibilities as the leading male character of the series and proceeds to obliterate all the enemies effortlessly – yet fascinatingly, he does it not with just one still frame, or even three, but instead a cheap running sequence with a diagonally inclined striped pattern to imply motion, putting all special effects of the 1970′s to shame, followed by a slap of a single frame.
Capitalizing on that chilling action scene, the series affirms us that rehashed romance and generically designed lolis are definitely more important than fighting for your life as it shuffles through some moments featuring the former in a full 15 frames per second – exemplifying the extensive effort poured into this series as the studio strove forward and went a whole 14 frames per second above having a still image, going the extra mile of delivering animation in what is intended to be an animation, just for the many fans out there.
At this rate, all this upcoming episode needs now is marriage, and it may very well be the most outstanding episode of Sword Art Online to date.

It’d be nice if the series focused more on plot and less on harems and fanservice… :(
Good to hear they raised the battle animation bar. Now just keep going till you reach this century. Heck, I’d settle for 2005 instead of this year, as long as it isn’t a few frames showed with minor differences.

If we’re lucky, perhaps the series will exceed 2001 standards by episode 20.

Hey seven this atricle is unfair compairing this the the 80′s. At least the 80′s had an excuse

the battle animations actually seem better this time, although i doubt that it will keep this for long in the episode,
side note: if sword art online has reached the quality of the 80′s, what year did the quality of F/Z breach?
also what kind of sword stance is asuna and kirito doing, who does that?, it lowers your maneuverability and i think it doesn’t even help in increasing your defense for that matter

F/Z? Eons ahead of SAO, that’s for sure.

They are just in it for the pose. Some fanboys/girls are probably gonna die over that scene or something.

If humanity weren’t declining, Fate/Zero would just be higher-end 2012 animation – but in today’s actual standard, it’s like 2055.

and seeing as SAO seemingly has a huge fanbase, indeed, Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita.

Comparing it to the 80s is just asking to compare it to Saint Seiya AND Fist of the North Star…How could you…
The action scenes in those were, and still are some of the best

I have to agree with you there, Hokuto Shinken is just really cool, although it did say it was just on par with the 80′s, Hokuto no Ken and Saint Seiya were among the top animes of that time so those will always be better than SAO

It’s on par with the worst of the eighties.

Was GTO 90s or 80s?
Sep 20, 2012 @ 9:16 CDT
1999 – 2000.

That does not seem like a very effective battle stance…
