Every season has its share of lesser works, although upcoming adaptation of idol based arcade game, “Aikatsu!“, doesn’t look as if even trying to succeed – introducing a sub-par stage, and staying there.
When watching the clip, one truly is left think just how this was passed beyond quality control – who at the studio conjured up the obscene concept of taking a watered down scene with no mentionable traits or characteristics aside from exaggerated color, and felt there’d be no follow-up more perfect than a blatant 3-D computer graphic effect inferior in rendering to the roadsters of Initial D from several years past.
Further, it’s not even clear what the appeal or grander scheme is intended to be either – solely for curiosity, one would certainly like to know what sort of plot demands seemingly random intercessions of unrelated CG in which a character is seen bouncing around for no apparent reason.
Computer graphic powered or not, the scenes lack a consistent flow and storytelling ability – besides the CGI, the remainder of the video seems to be exclusively set within a character’s room, and nothing worthwhile looks to occur at all. All instances of reality merely have one or more girls grinning and shuffling around a bit, which of course says little of value – yet then again, based on the source material and whatnot, one can infer the tale is likely something about becoming an idol overnight.
As to whether such a premise has any promise, it certainly doesn’t seem like it.
