An elemental workshop.

An official illustration featuring four females from the upcoming Hayate no Gotoku series has been released – quite notable in that it has the girls outfitted in vivacious carnival ensemble, oversized feathers and all.

In general, carnival apparatus is rather hideous – and the selection of wardrobe seen here specifically is also quite disturbing on the eye. First of all, it’s respectable that some amount of effort was put towards matching each female with a hue fitting of her person, such as the blue-haired ahoge equipped bishoujo who sports a complementary orange, yet the hue utilized within the full choice of costume is just an outright mess – darker orange with a teal blue, plain red flower in her hair, a slither of green, and brilliant yellow heels.

The visual result of this impulsive palette is equivalent to what one would get if mixing together a mush of cake frosting – besides being a distasteful sight, it induces little more than diarrhea.

Aside from the hues employed, the texture in which they’re exhibited is also a reason for disappointment – none of the present textures are very well-defined whatsoever, with every instance of such having a bland appearance, and general lack of shadow. This makes nothing particularly pleasing to look at – the opposite in fact, turning the entire display into quite a torturous affair to glare at.

On top of this all, neither does it aide the image that the girls collectively don’t sing in terms of color relation, or likewise – to summarize, this is essentially one of the most inconsistent and lacking artworks in recent memory, and this is merely targeting the issue of hue, there remains a plentiful stack of other unfortunate problems as well.
