Psycho-Pass has been bestowed with a revised PV showcasing literally all which came before – although including a very critical split second that actually reveals some highly significant details.
As this PV below is simply the same one to come before, returning identical with only less than a second of worthwhile extra, there is little to say – however, that which there is to say is certainly quite substantial. Near the final second, the video exhibits a character on the opposite side of our protagonist in a conventional “at odds” manner of implication – or in other words, essentially showing us that this fellow is the one whom our protagonist will be in contention with.
Indeed, that’s all we’ve learned from the video beyond the already known – though it’s certainly a useful piece of information. If this series will be a straight protagonist versus antagonist ordeal, rather than a battle of organizations of similar, this means character development should be heavy – assuming the series is actually well done.
One would have to learn why exactly the antagonist is so intently against the protagonist, and vice versa – and in a superior tale of the sort, it could be portrayed fascinatingly, with additional details of lifestyle, background, and all the usual aspects of an individual threshed out.
Again however, that’s merely assuming this series goes the route of something upper caliber – a lesser tale will merely inform one of a trivial item and then move along as if such were significant, or simply pass over the aspect of character building in its entirety. Nonetheless, speculation tossed aside, this PV is interesting – and ideally, the anime will make something of it.

I’m hoping the antagonist is somewhat involved inside MC’s past. Like you said, I’m hoping it’s a straight MC versus antagonist story with intricate character development and story progression filled with additionnal elements explained in a proper manner.

They almost look like brothers – that’s not an unnatural concept either.
Sep 6, 2012 @ 17:44 CDT
Notice how the antagonist’s features are complete opposite of the MC’s.
Colors, hair style, expression…..
Sep 6, 2012 @ 17:48 CDT
That’s one of the aspects intended to indicate the opposition between them – it’s quite nice.
Sep 6, 2012 @ 18:52 CDT
I hope it do not get so cliche.

it’ gen urobuchi, you know its good, but still Production I.G or as like to call it P.I.G. is handling this so its a 50-50 chance this will be good

Maybe I see this wrong, but I will never understand why most people think that if an anime fails then it’s the whole studio’s fault. The deciding factor is always the staff (director, script writer, etc). How good or bad will be the anime has nothing to do with the name of the studio.
And even if XY staff member did something bad in the past, they always have the right to prove themselves. There is a chance that they can make something better next time. Of course making something on the same level or worse is also possible <.<
One thing is certain, Urobuchi involvement is really reassuring.

It would be different with one mess up – although when a single studio fails again, and again, and again, then it would be logical to realize there’s something wrong with the studio.

Look at Studio Deen. The majority of its works (mostly adaptations) have their story getting screwed, which is why most people hate it.
Sep 7, 2012 @ 10:40 CDT
While I agree that Deen often makes “bad adaptations” I wouldn’t say they are soooo bad as most people think.
Btw, what sucks is just a matter of preference. One of my favourite anime – Shion no Ou – is made by S.Deen. I really enjoyed Giant Killing. Seitokai no Ichizon and Sankarea was also good, imo. Personally I would never pass on a studio because of their previous work. And if I don’t like it, I simply drop it nad something else.
@Seven
I’m not not sure if the studio always have a say about chosing the director and some other staff members. Aren’t these people usually selected by the publisher/production company or something like that? I don’t know much about the phases of anime production, so I could be wrong.
Well, there are the exceptions like Shinbo, but for me it seems that most of these main staff members are some kind of “freelancers”.
Sep 7, 2012 @ 11:00 CDT
Yes, there are many freelancers – however, part of what determines a studio’s skill is the kind of work it can dish out, the portfolio of creations it assembles. Putting together an A-player team is part of the game.

Also J.C. Staff , together, they ruined a number of works, an example is anime of tsukihi- what there is no anime of that? and with S.Deen, Umineko & FSN,
Sep 7, 2012 @ 13:28 CDT
It’s like JC Staff’s primary objective is to ruin animation.
Sep 7, 2012 @ 13:29 CDT
Studio DEEN hasn’t made anything half-respectable in forever.
Sep 7, 2012 @ 13:37 CDT
i Agree, an example is recently with sankarea, it was good at the beginning, but as it got to the end , the story just went over the place, unlike the source material,it turned out horrible in the end
Sep 7, 2012 @ 15:23 CDT
Sankarea wasn’t even average or slightly lacking either – it was almost astounding how poorly done it was.

What the fuck is this…
Hibari Kyoka vs Gokudera Hayato?
This is a total ripoff from Katekyou Hitman Reborn… all the characters look the same
Sep 7, 2012 @ 0:21 CDT
When a single character designer is designing characters for a second series, it’s not surprising if they bear similarities – and it’s to be expected, e.g. Madoka and Hidamari Sketch.
If the character designer made a more excessive amount of series with identical characters, then there’d be an issue.
Sep 7, 2012 @ 8:00 CDT
Same case as Natsu from Fairy Tail and Haru from RAVE. First look on the manga, and you will think that those two are the same.
Sep 7, 2012 @ 13:31 CDT
Madoka looks like Yunocchi with pink hair and a frilly dress.
Sep 7, 2012 @ 10:58 CDT
I agree. Akira Amano isn’t such a high-profile artist after all (Reborn is the only series she is successful with) so I think it’s alright.
It’s a different story if she was a character designer but she’s not.
Sep 7, 2012 @ 13:38 CDT
She is also seemingly a fan of mafia like designs
Sep 7, 2012 @ 15:23 CDT
There needs to be more unique styles as this.
Sep 7, 2012 @ 14:27 CDT
The first thing I noticed was how closely he resembled Gokudera. Needless to say I really like how the Antagonist looks, I can’t to find out his connection to the MC.
