Images of the usual pre-release nature have arrived for episode eight of Sword Art Online – an installment in which the plot supposedly begins, and one which unfortunately still won’t aide the series much.
With the central tale arriving as late as the eighth episode, that’s something which simply cannot be undone – regardless of where the series goes from here, a substantial segment of it is never coming back. It would still be preferred, of course, that this series actually puts forth the effort to be something at least of the ranks of “average” when it comes down to it – then again however, there’s still many other areas in which it is simply below that, and then some.
It’s already been long-known that the character designs are terrible and lacking of individuality – then with the advent of a few episodes into the series, it became impossible for one not to become aware of other aspects, such as the music serving every scene being of a quality not particularly grand. Yet worse than that, each of those scenes happen to be hardly what one can call “animation” – specifically, those few which deliver a grand total of three still images to account for climatic battle.
In any case, this believed beginning of the main story seems to take the bland protagonist on an adventure with his leading harem member – and whilst one would like to say these pre-release images, paired with the belief that they’re of the main story, make the episode look promising, they do not. There is, however, one interesting sight – and that’s the final frame below, for no reason other than it shows a face unfamiliar.
At the very least, hopefully this episode won’t be something to ridicule.
