Apparently, the September 2012 issue of Famitsu magazine gave Bakemonogatari Portable a surprisingly petty numeric ranking – and one which sets it below everything else they’ve reviewed for the month.
Bakmonogatari on the PSP seemed to be impressive when it came to PVs – although Famitsu didn’t think so of the actual game it seems. Information supposedly leaked from the next soon to arrive issue of Famitsu reveals that this visual novel, based after one of the top selling animations in existance, received a score of “6/6/4/7″. Now for comparison, that value is below all other games significantly – and not only that, even a half-baked oppai action game, Senran Kagura, managed to surpass Bakemonogatari PSP with a loftier grade of “8/7/7/8″.
Unless they simply weren’t fond of it on a personal level, this visual novel may not have been as grand as expected after all unfortunately.

I’m sorry Seven. It’s not 6647. It’s 6/6/4/7. The four digits are ratings of four reviewers (0-10, 10 being the highest) and the total is the rating, with perfect being 40/40.
So, Bakemonogatari is not 2000 points less than the other game, it’s just 7 pts less(30-23). But a 23/40 is still a decent score, translating to “OK – Good”, not really a failure

I was intending to be metaphoric – although I probably didn’t clarify that one well.
In any case though, that’s not a good score – especially not when most other games are hitting higher.
It’s probably “OK – Good” is you’re seriously into the “-monogatari” series and don’t mind lacking gameplay.

Famitsu just gives the crappiest reviews, handing out about 5 perfect scores a year, and giving bad reviews to things that are quite litteraly perfect. For shame Famitsu, for shame.

I’d not be surprised if that were the case – IGN does it all the time.

If a 4 out of 10 is about a 40 out of a 100, does that mean that somebody wanted to give Bakemonogatari an F?

Yes.
