Sphere has released a bishoujo character sketch from their upcoming sibling intimacy eroge, “Imouto no Katachi” – and interestingly, the designs certainly do seem far more lavishing minus the colors in this case.
This series has a style of art which looks to overlay a layer of light atop some moderately colored and fleshed out female figures – resulting in that all has a very striking synthetic feel whenever eyes are laid upon a character. It’s not necessarily a negative, although the appearance isn’t something which would appeal to all – and surely, it’s definitely not the most aesthetically pleasing sight that could be. It is indeed attractive in itself – yet Sphere could certainly do far better if they had so wished.
Now incidentally, when looking at the character design without the seemingly overdone sense of artificial depth embedded within the colors of this series’ mode of illustration, one will be met with something far more lovely. The character no longer stands out from an excessive effort of accenting portions of the body – yet instead, comes forward from simply no more than a realistic instance of depth, as well as a generally beautiful appearance altogether.
A particular point in which this sketch excels happens to be the gorgeous line work of course – stunning curves which are nearly inciting of disbelief at how lusciously they flow. And it would be nearly insulting to not recognize and praise the very intricacy of them as well – note how elaborate the lines are around the hair, as well as in general. Shadow has been clearly accounted for already – and the sketch is simply emanating with skills of a true master and expert.
Seeing how marvelous this mere sketch is, one is left only dreaming that Sphere one day makes an artistic ero-game based around little but their lineart.
