Artwork of a certain devil-tailed loli from famously perverse harem, To Love-Ru Darkness, was being showcased on TV of the homeland – yet making this particularly special, the art comes straight from Yabuki-sensei.
One must admit To Love-Ru Darkness definitely has artwork most magnificent – regardless if one is personally favoring of the salacity for which that artwork is utilized or not. And a reason this specific illustration of the series’ pink-haired loli happens to be so exquisite, it’s hand-drawn direct from the series’ twistedly genius inceptor, Yabuki-sensei – complete with an autograph and all.
Yet more rewarding than a mere signature is that one can see the very movement of the markers which compose the illustration – the incredibly smooth application of color is done to a degree of mastery, making it clear that of course, the artist has some ridiculously unparalleled ability with fine instruments. In fact, it’s nearly frightening how precise the illustration has been made – with colors transitioning so delicately, yet visibly well-considered.
And not simply that, but value is found atop the hues in a fashion which is plain impossible to dispute – it’s dead accurate with reality, or in other words, flawless.
Switching to another detail which only further affirms the expertise of Yabuki-sensei, hardly ever will one see a character design contain complementary colors implemented without merely gaining an awkward contrast blasting off the canvas instead – and by “hardly ever”, this means almost never. Yabuki-sensei has managed to portray pink with a lighter green in such a way that the two truly bring out the beauty of one another – and indeed, there’s many lovely aspects to admire with this work of art.
With relative ease could anyone conjure up some bishoujos and tentacles and toss them together to form a manga – yet it’s rather evident why To Love-Ru manages to be one known above all in what it does.
