Chuunibyo demo Koi ga Shitai! has now received a PV – and it seems essentially on par with expectation, generic character design, yet spectacular general artwork, with a bittersweet mixture of originality.
Short second spanning intervals of various scenes compose the entirety of the preview video – it’s a slosh of the many elements and scenes to anticipate with this upcoming animation, and it’s seemingly just as one could have foreseen. There’s two distinct atmospheres prevalent within the clip – the first being the slice of life bit, which is so painfully generic to see, it’s practically indescribable as it suffocates the viewer with tropes found abundantly in nearly any given anime of a similar respect.
Meanwhile however, the second envelop of mood stems from the assorted dark action segments – portions which show off some stunning displays of supernatural power being exchanged, devised with elaborate patterns, and beautifully contrasting colors, alongside even a few characters who are not moeblobs, believe it or not. Not only that, the leading male looks quite refreshing within his battle vestments – a male protagonist finally saving the world in more than his seifuku. And it should also be said, the night background environments are rather splendid as well.
Both offerings of the series considered, bland highschool romance and marvelous supernatural action, the series apparently utilizes the former as a foundation to develop the latter – and ideally, the latter will indeed be the heavier main focus.
As seen rather well within Hyouka, Kyoto Animation can come up with an interesting concept and execute it with beautiful mechanics – only to slaughter it themselves with such a forced abundance of the commonalities they know will secure them viewership and sales, such as moeblob.
With any hope however, this series won’t disappoint too much upon its launch in this coming autumn season.

Dem marvelous action scenes paired with generic romcom elements. Based on what I heard, it looks like the action scenes aren’t your typical characters’ delusions.

I heard similar.
If only the generic elements weren’t there, this would at least be the making the effort to become something groundbreaking.

I can kinda see your shortness with this show. Maybe it’s the music and scene choices, but this looks pretty good.
