With the advent of another “Another” BD volume, it brings another instance of Misaki Mei’s moe qualities – this one being particularly cute as the eyepatch is absent, yet simultaneously is it harsh for other reasons.
Adorable indeed is the heroine of this series – her eyes are rather lovely as they complement one another, hair also being lavishing as usual, and skin fair as ever. Essentially, one aspect making this artwork so magnificent is simply that it portrays Misaki Mei to begin with as she’s rather beautiful by default. However, there is a prevalent rarity – any acquainted with the series should realize that blushing is not something native to her person, and neither are cute summer dresses, making this a particularly fine sight.
Also quite rewarding is her reaction, serving to be both amusing and cute alike through delicate arm movement – as well as the paired moe mouth gesture.
Yet cute as Misaki may be, the image is also fairly cruel in that it contains the aunt character standing behind her nephew – and Misaki’s role is, of course, one no better. Nonetheless, the group of three seem to certainly be enjoying themselves in painful irony here – putting up a front of smiles and cheer which unforgivingly coats over the unsuspecting reality to ensue within the series.
In recent memory, this is certainly one of the most brutal yet charming works of animations.
