Out now is the first PV of “Sakurasou No Pet na Kanojo“, and it’s not striking in any way – neither looking lacking of quality, seeming quite well-done in fact, yet nor does it look beyond a typical romance comedy.
Watching the PV provides a glimpse of all the usual antics anticipated with these highschool romance stories – with cheerful days of friendship, met with awkward moments of female nudity, alongside some intimate interactions as relationships flourish and develop. None of that is particularly negative, especially not when portrayed to a quality which seems rather above average as seen here – incidentally however, it’s not beyond the conventional either.
In other words, this series isn’t looking to be anything extravagant – yet it does seem to have the potential to be something quite solid all-around nonetheless since there’s no notable flaws, merely nothing too prominently unique either, aside from the visuals.
JC Staff are quite recognized for both horribly failing, as well as monumentally succeeding, with this sort of series in the past – thus the expectations are rather mixed and uncertain, especially as the PV doesn’t have any defining moments. The video contains the character introduction bits found within most videos of its kind – and perhaps following that, the most significant scene is simply that of heroine physical exposure to be found later on as it shows how clueless the leading female is.
This series airs next season in autumn – and it’s perhaps the most mixed bag of animation awaiting.

I liked the character designs/animation, and, well, the PV altogether.
I’m not counting on this being an ground-breaking LN adaptation of some sorts, but I hope it doesn’t fail to entertain, providing some light-hearted comedy fun.
So yea, pretty much agree with what you wrote.

Likewise, I agree with what you wrote.

hmmm… i was wondering where had i saw this before….n now i remembered i saw this manga before!!!!
Aug 9, 2012 @ 22:32 CDT
Did you like the manga, assuming you’ve read it also?
Aug 9, 2012 @ 23:34 CDT
There are only 2 chapters/volumes of the manga. And its only in Japanese.
The light novels have yet to be translated even by fans.
The character design of Shiina Mashiro is awesome, albeit uninteresting and generic. It’s a nice eye/hair colour combo.

Light novels are hardly translated unless the series is immensely popular.
Either case, I can see this quite well – “uninteresting and generic”.

I like the character designs here a lot, especially since I’m tired of those like K-ON and Kokoro Connect. They give me nausea.

These character designs don’t look much better, at least not in the PV. In regular illustrations, the art is quite stunning – so it could be that the video itself is lacking.

I’ve only heard good things from light novel readers, so as long as J.C. Staff can animate it well for us, this should be quite good. It probably won’t be spectacular but it should be a nice watch (I hope!).
