Although the series has yet to debut, a preview clip has come promoting the complete optical media box set of “Aratanaru Sekai” – an upcoming sci-fi adventure of cute girls in seifuku traveling through time.
The PV isn’t particularly extravagant – rather, over half of it is spent simply on some character introductions done to stylish effect backgrounds, alongside a basic verbal overview of the story. Much of it is simply information already unveiled within the standard premise and key visuals – and the video is actually quite reminiscent to something expected of a visual novel propaganda clip, versus that of an anime, due to the lack of actual functioning scenes.
Thankfully however, there is a slim portion of animation to be found near the closing half of the video – a very slight sampling of several early moments in the series cropped and arranged together, which while minuscule, does offer enough for one to understand the general atmosphere if nothing else.
A pack of attractive girls in school uniforms seem to be exploring a peculiar passageway – one would like to say that the vicinity surrounding them, the world in which they stand, looks isolated, bleak, and reduced to ruins, yet the scene is simply too vivid. The sky is a brilliant blue, the space all around is refreshing, and one can indeed see what looks to be a civilization in the background – perhaps the place is entirely empty, although it certainly doesn’t give the impression.
However, one does receive the feeling that there is some darker sentiments lingering beneath all – and such incidentally stems from the physically darker scenes.
There is a subtle captivation achieved by the clip overall, keeping one engaged through its simplicity – and ideally, of course, the anime will manage to follow up favorably upon its ultimate debut.

Traveling through time is and will always be an interesting topic, so hopefully this series will be pretty cool.

It is an interesting topic, but it is completely ruined in so many good stories. Usually you could just go back in time and kill the antagonist of a story, or bringing loved ones back to life, and I hate bringing people back to life more than I hate time travel, because then it defeats the whole mortality parts of many stories, and there isn’t as much thrill.

Time-traveling is an interesting topic, even more so when it’s time-traveling towards the future. The animation in the PV looks like it’s quite good as well. And the studio is Madhouse, so I’ll be looking forward to it. My only concern is that the director seems like a bit of a newbie.
The manga version hopefully will be picked up by some scanlating group, but the light novel version might not be so lucky…
