A set of five huggable pillows are coming soon featuring Smile PreCure’s sparkly cast of magical characters – yet being a children’s series, there’s much that differs with these dakimakura in comparison to others.
Rather than full-fledged huggable pillows, it would be more appropriate to recognize these as “training dakimakura” – intended to get second dimension admiring children of Japan to come to develop a respect for the dakimakura prior to eventually purchasing something of the “adult” merchandise sector. And of the most blatant facets which differ from the usual dakimakura stylings, the poses and illustrations of these huggable pillows in training are not particularly intimate.
A dakimakura for the seasoned veterans of the second dimension most typically direct spotlight upon a female who is emphasized within a setting of bed sheets – with the background kept plain as attention all drains towards the female, who is more than likely to be found blushing. The girls usually would not be posing in a manner which floods the pillow like this as that’s actually quite awkward when hugging.
It would also be preferred that the females arrive in more scantily outfits, with less glitter – or at the very least, their sleepwear. The current scenario feels more so akin to hugging a pillow of a cosplayer at a carnival attraction – rather than a batch of cotton based after a female with whom one has managed to secure a contract for private usage.
Yet again, one couldn’t have expected much more since this is a children’s series after all.

I’m sure that most of them will be bought by creepy otakus. I highly doubt if a parent would buy it for his children.

If I had a daughter, I’d buy her one.

If I had a neko, I’d buy him one.

I would be reluctant to. Claws.

I don’t think dakimakuras have to be sexual in nature or intent to be that way.

They don’t – although the standard is so.
