A PV is now available for “Katayoku no Khronos Gear“, an upcoming OVA based off a similarly titled game – and as with nearly every series of this sort, it’s looking sub-par and unimpressive, as should be anticipated.
Watching the video below, first of all, even overlooking the lacking video quality, the animation visuals themselves appear horribly bland – with remedial to no proper shadow application whatsoever, half-decent line work, and creativity deficient style overall. Many aspects appear of the “cut and paste” kind in that much was likely made once and used all over the place – and secondly, the illustrators didn’t bother to take the time to make everything fit together properly, something noticed quite well at 21 seconds within the video.
Focusing on that moment in the clip, the girl looks to be simply tossed atop a backdrop of generically made pattern – and indeed, the background is quite awful in itself, looking like no more than a Photoshop texture rendering.
Even if setting aside the art quality entirely, the contents of the PV consist of nothing more than ever-typical shounen action of swords and colossal laser beams being swung and fired respectively – all within a sporadic manner of the far too frequently seen “invincible hero” who is not only impervious to absolutely everything, but is capable of world destruction at his fingertips for no apparent reason.
Overall, the standards of “horrible” have been rewritten once more.

Will look forward to this one. Too bad the anime industry is nothing more than being flooded by fanservice

So this is the salvation from fanservice? Sub-par creations with garbage quality visuals?
Yes, forget chasing excellence, creativity, or innovation – let’s just turn technology back 10 years, that’s the solution.
And assuming you actually watched the PV, you would have noticed the scene of full body nudity.

Agreed, I mean it doesn’t have to be fate/zero but come on… Code Geass looked better than this and that was 6 years ago…?

Exactly – you would expect that over time, the best of the past would become the standard of today. Yet instead, the best of the past is also the best of today – and the standard of today is worse than it was yesterday.
I pity humanity.

Yeah, no – sorry.

I noticed that scene. I have nothing against fanservice myself, it justs that it gets overused in nearly every anime that were released nowadays.

Over usage is one issue, the other is poor usage.
