Seitokai no Ichizon’s official site has been renewed with a key visual – and some distinctive differences are present in this image of the greatest student council compared to any previous imagery of the group.
It appears the change in studio will, unsurprisingly, impact the look of the seitokai – though thankfully, not in any manner significantly too negative. The most striking detail of alteration is the color selection – notable with ease on each character’s head alone, their hair is more whitewashed and lacking of contrast found with the originals. The colors composing the visage also vary ever slightly – yet enough to be noticed by any who are at least relative admirers of the ultimate harem.
The tone of pink utilized as a blush on the female characters is brighter and more dryly applied than that utilized within the designs of the series’ first season – and with this, one can notice two more specifics. Essentially, all the colors have been watered down in general – AIC is apparently incapable of recreating the more heavier contrasting tones of the first season’s designs for whatever reason, and this is immensely unfortunate as such was one of the defining features of the characters.
Additionally, AIC seemingly thought it appropriate to upgrade, or rather, downgrade the characters by making all the females blush constantly as is the new modern standard – and something not present with the original animated run.
Lines and shapes have been made sharper and less curved – making for another revision for the worst. And on a series of assorted miscellaneous edits, fashion has suffered – the ribbons worn by the females were never such a deep tone of red, the opening in Minatsu’s blouse was formerly more inclined straight to the jacket instead of stopping short, and the violet based plaid pattern was previously more straightforwardly composed of solid stripes and less complex.
Overall, contrast has been deteriorated and that is definitely terrible enough as is – however, one should be thankful that at least this AIC recreation of the characters wasn’t any worse than it could have been.

Maybe AIC will do a better job with season 2.
Season 1 was awful.

I think you posted this comment on the wrong article.

I can’t think of another show that AIC did the second season but not the first….other than Strike Witches.
But no.

If that’s the case, it would be more beneficial if you elaborated.

The art looks much better, maybe not the coloring. Season 1 had some ugly art.
Jul 13, 2012 @ 10:50 CDT
Not as ugly as Hyouka at least.

I feel like you have something against KyoAni.
SnI’s season 2′s art looks better than season 1, IMO.
Cut down on the blushing though.

I’m just messing with that Anon since they’re biased towards Hyouka.
Though in either case, I disagree. The visuals here merely appear more conventionalized and lacking of individuality.

Hmm….well, I somewhat agree with you.
Well in the end it doesn’t matter much to me, as long as it’s not a huge downgrade or anything. I didn’t really like season 1 but I’m willing to give the series a 2nd chance, what with the different studio and staff working on it and all.

I’d rather see the animated version first then judge.
Jul 13, 2012 @ 11:04 CDT
Yes indeed – though nonetheless, a key visual is worth recognizing.

Meh.As long as the jokes and the character personalities aren’t ruined,I’m good.
