Fate/Zero’s servant Saber is being abused as a marketing tool as usual – yet this instance involves her adorning the cover of a Chinese novel which hasn’t any relation to Type-Moon or the Fate series at all.
A book originating in China has Saber printed on the face – and while it escapes fire from copyright due to differences in region, it certainly doesn’t manage to hide from shame. Nonetheless, this is definitely more amusing than anything else, particularly in how the stolen illustration was given some wings to look a little more unique – and additionally, at least one can see that even children in China admire the King of Knights.

Note to self. Find one before leaving the country so I can post pages on SeventhStyle style with camera of the cover page and the middle page. :3
I find it amusing because Fate/Zero has to be THE most popular anime series of the past year or so, and by quite a margin as well. And the most interesting part about this is that NO ONE likes their animes being tampered with either :3. By that I mean the amount of disgust shown at things like GUNDAM AGE and the Saint Seiya [insert omega symbol too lazy to do it myself]
Oh and the Legal ISSUES. Well it’s a matter of being worth it or not. Unless this book sells…which I don’t think will make it past the 10 year old generation…and the writing is horrible, even by Chinese internet fanfiction style…and I swear that’s how someone came up with this… but the point is Type Moon actually IS allowed to take legal action against these guys, just a matter of if they would bother, whether they’d get more out of it by suing them or leaving them be.
I don’t know, maybe there will be like a massive book burning ceremony somewhere with these kinds of things. I’d attend if I can get a free copy :3
EDIT: ONE MORE THING!!! THE AUTHOR IS A PRIMARY SCHOOL KID. Thus the classmates surrounding the poor kid around the table :3 You should probably add that in :3

I had considered whether some sort of legal action may be possible – though indeed, like you say, it’s not even really worth it.
Also, that’d be interesting for you to post the pages – give everyone something to rage over.

yea added the edited bit in :3
But as far as I can find on CHINESE GOOGLE, nah its called BAIDU :3
anyway…it’s only the cover that was stolen. There are some white knights trying to prevent the kid from suicide or something because of the hating he’s already received.
Oh and also the story is about a knight fighting a dragon. Trufax :3

I wonder who added those slick wings – they have mad skills.

Man I feel like one of those reporters who are like THIS JUST IN!!!! But anyway editors in China tend to be less educated than otakus when it comes to these kind of things. I swear the fan-subs/dubs are much better than the official ones…so blame them instead :3

Fan-translated book by a grade-schooler about a knight killing a dragon with a plagiarized cover artwork.

Another embrassement for the Chinese civilization. I’m sadden to see the publishers of this book somehow lack the basic work ethnic to create an original cover, or work with the this child author on one. Now this promising writer will be scarred for life from some failre’s laziness.

Lack of common sense, moral, consideration, and critical thinking.
This sort of stuff happens everywhere, and it’s always the same reason as to why – whoever is behind it is too idiotic to contemplate their action and determine the obvious outcome impending.

Often you guys get these kinds of news faster than us in China….

I get news faster than everything.
