A Channel has certainly never looked as desirable as it does on the cover of Manga Time Kirara Carat’s August 2012 issue – featuring the sexy, busty character alongside the lovable loli with a nasty attitude.
While the anime was hardly on par with hopscotch, it’s no surprise that the manga would be superior, as many of them typically are – though here, our interest is specifically on the illustration adorning this latest upcoming release of the series’ source origin magazine. First and foremost, the collective of colors is gorgeous – such a vivid and vast variety of hues are spread across the artwork in seemingly both a complementary and analogous fashion.
Colors repeat to establish harmony as one will hardly have trouble noticing subconsciously – yet as we’re all awake, do take special notice of the green on the sandals of Tooru, the tasteful loli to the right, as this color green is seen again in some bubbles. There’s also many other similar instances of this expert color repetition – such as Yuuko, the bishoujo with breasts unmissable, wearing a neck piece which recurs only a bit to the left of her, the magazine date, price, and basic information.
Aside from the more meager seen colors, there’s also some major players – blue and pink for instance are heavily scattered all throughout the image in many different areas. Having at least a single most prominent tone is always incredibly critical as the eye must rest somewhere – otherwise it becomes a busy, incomprehensible mess, though that’s definitely not the case here.
As each girl is fitted in a mizugi of magnificent colors, the subsequent contrast beautifully brings out the best in both their figures – and for example, Yuuko, the oppai equipped girl to the left, has a patterned mizugi top. These horizontal stripes add to the effect of volume and size, giving her oppai a fine boost in visible size – all the while, the lightly contrasting frills and softer fabrics of pink devise an aura of elegance surrounding her, whilst also aiding to balance out the pink of both her and Tooru’s pink pupils.
These aren’t some trashy bikinis being exhibited by both the girls, but stylish and fashionable, yet certainly provocative outfits – which are of a high caliber to match their equally lofty bodies.
“Contrast” is the key word for this resplendent illustration – lavishing colors against supple skin is the prominent instance, yet it is also critical how these fruity tones both vie for attention individually, which as result, makes both Yuuko and Tooru come to life, instead of one of them falling victim to the other’s spotlight, or in this case, oppai. Now as the mizugis flourish against the skin, similarly to how Yuuuko’s bust receives all the rightful focus it deserves, Tooru is not forgotten either.
Tooru hasn’t the strongest of chest, if any, yet do note that both females have fantastic curves, with a very distinct black outline – and again, the tropical hued mizugi works wonders even on a lacking upper body. Yet there’s quite a trick behind it – a purely genius tact of making Tooru come off as sexier than the ample oppai beside her.
In full view is the bikini top of Tooru, thereby letting us visually establish that her mizugi is of a teal tone – then, her lower body was illustrated to emphasize delicious curves, and the single mizugi side-tie ribbons, alongside the less apparent tiny portion visible between her legs, work in conjunction to make clear the fact that she has an impeccable waist. This is essentially Tooru’s equivalent of Yuuko’s cleavage.
And Tooru wins out in that while Yuuko’s oppai are appetizing, make no mistake, one can truly see the hourglass flow of Tooru’s tantalizing physique down to her flawless lower body – which is difficult to find less appealing than the upper body as the curves are greatly more present, accented, and in this case specifically, highlighted. Some additional strong points of Tooru also exist in her choice of mizugi – sexy side-tie always serving to delight.
Not to mention, one can notice by the angling of her legs that Tooru has her waist enticingly shoved over to single direction – ultimately allowing for a better indulgence of her legs and their curvature upward as one will easily notice.
Even then however, there’s still more – this loli is relentless as usual, her allure is already more resonant than a legion of bishoujos, yet going further, notice and compare the facial expressions. Yuuko has a standard smile, which does definitely do the eye a basic service – however turn concentration towards Tooru, her blushed expression is a shot straight to the heart. Tooru looks to be embarrassed – albeit simultaneously, still enjoying herself.
Also see that her visage sports a sense of aroused surprise, just ever so slightly, and then take into account the squid stuffed into her mouth – the suggestive implications from this sight certainly take no prisoners, especially with the fact that Tooru’s arms are both spread outward and too busy to be able to make any response. She’s open and helpless – a more fragile side of fearsome loli.
An attack still ongoing, the details not done there, see that her hair is a bit ruffled – indicative of her being in some physical activity, specifically some which is a bit beyond what she’s typically used to as otherwise her hair would have been prepared accordingly. Without getting too blatant, it does look that little Tooru has been “partying hard” – or so she appears.
She may be small, yet those curves and face are of a model – one of the many reasons why she’s the main focal point of this piece, balanced off to the right in the ever-popular “rule of thirds” as her more flavorful bits are boasted front and center to the world of otaku and beyond.

This tramples all over the anime’s artwork ten times over, and then some – all the while, reminding me why I loved Tooru so much.
