An absolutely spectacular 15 second video clip has been released for an upcoming series entitled “The labyrinth of magic – Magi” – action roars heavily within the preview, yet sentiments are not absent either.
This series is exactly the sort of polished innovation so longingly desired.
The TV CM begins by first highlighting the setting, a Mediterranean location as implied by the style of architecture – and then wasting no time, after panning across the land for only a second more, the video immediately shifts over into a scene of a fellow battling fiercely through burning flames which both surround him as well as engulf his blade. He looks to be an individual able to wield fire itself.
Secondly, we’re met with the sight of a female who makes a relentless assault upon an enormous feline beast – attacking it in what is almost a choreographic display of brutal melee onslaught till blood starts spewing, and she’s clearly become victorious.
Then lastly, we see the protagonist – a kid with immense magical proficiency as one will gather by how he wisps around beams of energy so swiftly and with relative ease. As the camera approaches on him, he goes from a serious visage of staring down an enemy – to a welcoming expression of a gentle smile. The impact felt by the conclusion of this minuscule promotional video is phenomenal.
A quick overview of various prominent characters, as well as the stage for the series, was made by this video without any verbal statements whatsoever – it was all a quick delivery, and presented with lavishing visuals alongside such a fitting theme of turmoil raging. The atmosphere was definitely set – and hype has been elevated to a height now nearly scraping against stars and galaxies.
Examining the premise of this series, it’s based around a mixture of historical Arabic culture – as well as some of the more ever-present Japanese influences. Our protagonist is Aladdin, who is traveling to a desert land with a magical flute in hand – an arcane instrument capable of summoning a certain “djinn”. A “djinn” or “jinn” isn’t too simple a concept too understand – though at least know that it is a sentient entity which is neither human nor animal, think of the blue Disney character from their rendition of Aladdin, the genie.
Aladdin and his jinn companion come across “Alibaba”, a man of arrogance and greed who first wishes to exploit the power of Aladdin’s jinn – deciding to travel with him, yet eventually becoming a true friend of the two. Further, they meet “Morgianna” – a lovely young girl who was enslaved, yet freed by Aladdin and crew.
Together, the newly formed band of adventurers encounter other jinn in a conquest which progressively looks to imply that they are responsible for determining who will run the world.

Oh wow. This looks really cool. An anime that doesn’t take place in Japan (let alone another high school) is incredibly refreshing. We get to see Japan’s take on Aladdin.

Indeed – I’m very eager for this one, and what’s also splendid is that the manga is very well-received.
