More key visuals of the attractive female characters of “One Off“, an upcoming OVA sponsored by motor vehicle company Honda, have been released – still serving to tremendously impress as quality excels.
One Off’s visuals all sustain a consistent subtle and gentle appearance, and one will be able to see how that’s made possible below – for each of the more prominent characters, there is a pair of two full body key visuals, with the first being rougher and still in need of refinement till becoming final, while the other is indeed the completed product.
In the rough overview, the lines were first placed originally to chart out the many shapes which make the character – and subsequently, color was laid atop to actually then make the character. That’s of course the usual process most of the time for any animation, yet One Off in particular is interesting in that the lines composing the character form are first roughly mapped – and then later fine-tuned after color application.
Line wasn’t entirely eradicated in the end, yet it was shrived down so that the characters are near-exclusively consisting of color – which also means light and shadow. Hues are kept very modest, yet still quite individualistic – each character has a gradient topped head, with matching shimmering eyes, and then their outfits are made up of more neutral, or matte colors with soft shadow transitions.
On another note, this is a wonderful opportunity for one to see a certain effect in action – look below to the seventh image, the one containing the two flavors of megane, and note how her hair is made up of directional line value in the shadowed areas. Such a patterned and angled shadow makes it appear as if her hair continues off into the infinite and unknown – a very useful tactic for continuous areas.
And now a last detail worth mentioning, the character composition overall is highly expressive – each girl is dressed according to her own personality, with a visage to match, giving out quite a distinct aura. For instance, the blue jacketed girl appears the type who gets told she looks like Black Rock Shooter.
This is certainly an OVA which seems worth awaiting with all we’ve seen thus far – and it’s debut has been confirmed to be this winter, likely December, which will make it a splendid and relaxing escape during the snowy season.

What’s with blue-hair girl’s eyebrows? I’m going to believe she partially shaved them, until I learn otherwise. At least she has a delicious flat chest.

Never heard of this and all I can say right now is “Ooooooh Pretty!”.
That’s some really good moe design in my book. Blue hair is mine! She seems like a rebel. Blondy is hot too. The rest are more “typical”, but still manages to keep the beautiful flow of things. They look much better and more distinguished outside of their sailor-fuku though. I hope the designs will translate well to the actual animation. Looking forward to One Off.
