PA Works Is Planning Something Secret

Jun 15, 2012 @ 17:37 CDT

PA Works, the studio notable for creations as “Another” and Angel Beats, has secured a time slot for Dengeki’s 20th anniversary events – the details are withheld, yet the studio more than likely has something huge.

Speculation regarding a new Angel Beats! project have been tossed up, down, and all around for the last several months – immense hype was built up by Dengeki for a major announcement which merely turned out to be a Tenshi 1/8 PVC figure. Yet even with one announcement down, more specifics were emerging on other fronts – such as the essential, yet not actual, confirmation of an Angel Beats! visual novel by Visual Arts’.

Furthermore, despite the continued confusions, a few items were ever-certain – Angel Beats! is a highly popular series, and no one is ready to believe that it truly will end as it stands.

In either case, as anticipated, PA Works has now confirmed to be making their presence at Dengeki’s 20th anniversary celebration – their most recent upcoming work, Tari Tari, will hit in only a few weeks, thus one will likely need not worry about it as Dengeki’s bash will be October 20th. This leaves three possibilities for what PA Works’ planned showings could be at Dengeki’s 20th anniversary affair – the future could hold an entirely fresh series, something regarding the Hanasaku Iroha film, or a much awaited, and highly hoped, Angel Beats addition.

Seemingly yet again, many an otaku’s soul is left awaiting what hopefully proves to be more beats.

Fool me once, shame on you, Dengeki, fool me twice, shame on me.
I’m not hyping this time, since all the usable hype, was for naught.
It’s now got to the point, if there was a new Angel Beats project announced, I’d just think “well, yay”, since they kinda toyed with the fans for long enough.

The fact that this is coming straight from PA Works, it does bring more light to a sequel of some sort, but don’t get your hopes up guys, just incase we get trolled again.

    You know what

I’m hyped and I hope you don’t mess me around again Dengeki

Please be Angel Beats!, please be Angel Beats!, PLEASE BE ANGEL BEATS!! I want an anime of the manga so bad!! If imma be fooled again, then I swear I’ll fly straight to Japan and.. and… and do something really evil!!

    • Seven says:

I also want more Anguru Beatsu – it just seems so logical for them to make another round, I don’t understand why they’ve not already.

      • pingypuff says:

Me neither! x( But I don’t even know why they cut the original anime to 13 episodes instead of the first planned 24… Like wtf! The ending felt so rushed, and I don’t even get the reason! Because Angel Beats! was quite a hit, was it not? So… why…? It’s much better than more slice of life Hanasakustyled anime. :(

        • Seven says:

I agree, while Hanasaku Iroha isn’t bad, and I can see the appeal, it’s certainly not better than Angel Beats! if we’re deciding what we’d like to see from PA Works.

Surely, there has to be some sort of internal reasons – a major hit series like Angel Beats! would have otherwise been a gigantic franchise already.

Since we’re talking about Angle Beats! and all that, and its likely to be “something Big”, it just brings to mind that epic enormity of a fail cannon that blew up in the Guild. That scene is one that I’ll always remember.

If not then I demand they all get sent to the rocket chair…

Well I hope a new Angel Beats will come, however, with Tari Tari coming soon, I can’t wait to watch the anime.

While another Angel Beats! would be good, if we take a step back…what exactly should we expect and how would it be meaningful?

Another season with new characters (seeing as everyone moved on except Tenshi and Otonashi), a movie or a visual novel?

I can’t imagine the people clamoring for more Angel Beats! would appreciate a VN announcement (which, IMO, is the more meaningful work) as it wouldn’t be translated in a very long time.

That being said, given how AB! was Key’s first original anime (I think) it would make sense for them to expand on it in the same medium.

    • pingypuff says:

What would we expect? An anime adaption of the manga of course! What’s that calles again, hmm… A… prequel? Anyways, I would love to see an adaption of the manga instead of some kind of continuation of the anime because I like the ending as it is allready! ^^

      • Seven says:

Indeed, the anime’s ending may not have been flawless – yet it’s well enough alone. A manga adaptation already gives them the material to animate – and everyone would enjoy it.
