As if the cast wasn’t colossal as is, Senjou no Horizon S2′s character roster was increased by a batch of 16 peculiarly dressed individuals – effectively making this series 16 times more ridiculous than was originally.
In the case of Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon however, being outrageous is its forte – it manages to make use of every one of its over the top characters quite well, yet nonetheless, it’s difficult to imagine what the series intends to with a cast double the size of the first season. Not only that, the characters are clearly becoming more ludicrous each time more are introduced – now we have zombies, skeletons, birds, mermaids, and a fellow who looks as if prepared for an Olympic swimming contest.
This latest batch also contains a few who at first appear “normal”, or at least as much as one could get within Senjou no Horizon, yet then a closer examination reveals that they’re even more bizarre than that.
Looking at number 13 below for instance, she’s an attractive bishoujo who looks almost no different than the several the series already has – yet notice her limbs. Her joints, such as the knees, are absent – each appendage of her person is held together invisibly, hovering in place. With that in mind, a further observation of her upper body gives the impression that she’s an android – and actually, there’s no other explanation one could readily conjure up for this oddity in design.
The diversity of course has its merits however – the female seen in image number 11 is a combination of physically attractive as per the trait known as “sexiness”, yet she’s simultaneously rather cute as well, especially when eating a donut as seen in the bottom left of the profile. The most important question surrounding her, and every character of Senjou no Horizon for that matter, is how will they contribute to the series.
Every character of season one played a massive role in reaching victory against their enemies – and that will likely hold true in season two as well, even with the tenfold increase in characters.
Senjou no Horizon’s second venture into war ensues July of this coming summer season.

And everyone was already pretty strange to begin with.
