Dengeki’s highly awaited Visual Arts issue of spring 2012 is now out, and while many were anticipating the new Angel Beats! project promised by Dengeki G – it turns out said “project” is simply a Tenshi PVC figure.
This issue of Dengeki’s Visual Arts magazine was promised to arrive April 10th with “new developments” for Angel Beats – the following day after that announcement, Dengeki G’s confirmed the statement via their official Twitter, mentioning that indeed, a new Angel Beats! project was coming, and that it was neither a game, nor related to the series’ writer, Jun Maeda.
Now the controversial spring 2012 issue of Dengeki’s Visual Arts publication has finally been released into the hands of feverish otaku – however what single Angel Beats! related word of news is there? Good Smile Company is planning to release a Tenshi PVC figure – yes, that’s all. Dengeki G’s made this announcement a few days before April Fools, thus perhaps they were taking everyone for a fool all along – or maybe they legitimately believed everyone else would be as excited as themselves over a PVC figure, yet in any case, hope may not necessarily be all lost just yet.
Alongside their Visual Arts magazine, Dengeki was also hyping their 20th anniversary for the same date, April 10th – yet similarly, nothing of interest has come from that front, Dengeki merely revealed silhouettes of 20 characters they were showing on their anniversary homepage, and they’ve also turned attention to May 10th, stating that on May 10th, that is when they will make whatever announcements they have, yet at this point, it’s hard to be excited for them.
In other words, a chance still exists for more Angel Beats! – yet seeing that Dengeki has failed to deliver anything but hype till this point, it seems otaku will have to settle for JC Staff’s Little Busters.

But I digress, I still believe they’re not just gonna leave Angel Beats at that. Plus with the prior article mentioning the May 10th date, that’s when I was actually expecting the Angel Beats info (if any), so this is actually a neat surprise if anything.

I also think they just shifted their focus on Angel Beats, I’m pretty sure there’s still more information to be released – yet for now, we’ve merely word of a PVC figure.

On topic of figure, it’s nice to hear Good Smile is working on that at least, since they do quality products.
I also agree with you, Angel Beats is a good anime to mention out of the list present to produce the most hype. It’d be a shame if they put so much focus on that hype to waste – then again, it could easily be a way to intentionally gain critique attention (god knows why you’d want to do it like that… xD).

Yeah I realize, I’m just trying to alleviate the issue – albeit in not the best way. I’m devastated myself to see that’s it’s just a figure – and I like figures. Though we might as well get our minds off Angel Beats! for the moment instead of reveling in the sorrow of it.
