An elemental workshop.

This is indeed yet another list of spring 2012′s top 10 most anticipated anime as the otaku are seemingly indecisive this season – Saki has been toppled and now at number one is a feminine series of singing and fighting.

As a few series of spring have already made their debut, this second ranking of 10 arrives – clearly however, there is some sort of biased force acting in the background, block voting perhaps, which is ranking the wrong series in the top spot. Saki was formerly at number one, and while certainly far from being the most deserving, it is understandable how it could rank so high due to its devout manga following and respectable first season – yet for something such as “AKB0048″ to be at number one, this is merely amusing.

Feel free to ridicule the ranking below:

1.) AKB0048

2.) Fate/Zero S2
3.) Hyouka
4.) Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka? Of The Dead

5.) Haiyore! Nyaruko
6.) Accel World
7.) Saki Achiga-hen episode of side-A

8.) Medaka Box
9.) Kimi to Boku S2
10.) Shining Hearts

AKB0048 is a petty marketing tact which features characters from a similarly named idol group “AKB48″ under the context of singing and fighting whilst in space – the concept of the anime is an utter garbage combination which simply have nothing to do with each other whatsoever. This anime is essentially a watered down corporate labelled version of Macross Frontier.

Now underneath that entry of nonsense is Fate/Zero’s second coming – ranking as high as anticipated, or at least it would have if it were number one. Notice how at number three, another sure to be spectacular series does follow, Kyoto Animation’s Hyouka – and at number four, once more a title which while not amazing, has a spot sensible considering its background. All the remaining entries on the list are reasonable as well as they’ve either put up a strong pre-release showing, or have an existing fanbase from other mediums.

If one is to simply eradicate “AKB0048″ from this list, then it actually becomes much more agreeable.

I cant believe that Fate/Zero is in second place and is being surpassed by that AKB0048 which has the stupid idea of singing and fighting , i really hope theres some kind of block voting perhaps like Seven said otherwise this wouldn’t make any sence

    • Seven says:

Someone could always have linked the poll to an ABK48 forum or something and have the votes for the series skyrocket easily.

What’s the source of the ranking?

  • eirei07 says:

AKB48 is a very popular female idol group, and by popular I mean their CD singles are sold by the millions in just the first few weeks, and had a strong fanbase not just in Japan but in the west as well. Fans that remember the the names and faces of each of the …48 member, I think, I’m not sure.

Thinking about it, an anime featuring the voices of some of their most popular members, WILL sure to sell no matter how stupid the premise sounds.

I just remembered, several of the members were in the recent Ultraman movie as members of the Earth protection force. The movie it self was pretty good, but the inclusion is…yes, juat a marketing ploy to get their millions and millions of fans to watch it.

    • Seven says:

Yeah, I’m not too shocked there – the masses are quite pitiable. I can understand obsessions with 2-D girls, but 3-D girls?

And I’m serious – this is because a 2-D character can carry traits which are just not applicable to the third dimension, and there’s also the fact that a fictional character is meant to embody specific things. Now of course one could view another human being as an idol as well, in more ways than one – yet as I mentioned, I personally view this as an action plain incorrect, although that’s another topic. As a final note however, obsessions in general are a negative.
