To little if any surprise, the season’s recently concluded anime about raunchy female fanfare, High School DxD, managed to outsell almost everything – all except InuBoku SS which took the top spot in sales.
Examining the total sales for both of High School DxD’s first volume optical media entries, the BD sits at 6,780, while the DVD has a total of 2,341, making for a grand sum of 9,121 – and effectively putting High School DxD in third place for combined sales of BD and DVD of the winter season after InuBoku SS, and the latest season of the seemingly never ending “Natsume Yuujinchou” on the sales chart for the week of March 19 through the 25th.
1.) Inu x Boku SS 11,619
2.) Natsume Yuujinchou Shi 10,345
3.) Highschool DxD 9,121
4.) Ano Natsu de Matteru 6,1285.) Mouretsu Pirates 4,588
6.) Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai! 4,012
7.) Brave 10 2,999
8.) Kill Me Baby 686
On a scale of Blu-ray sales alone, High School DxD outsold entirely everything else of the winter 2011 – 2012 season except for Persona 4 which took the top rank, as well as a few popular series from different seasons, such as Haganai, Hanasaku Iroha, and Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon.
1.) Persona 4 Vol.5 (Limited Edition) 17,921
2.) Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon Vol.4 (Limited Edition) 16,696
3.) Gundam SEED HD Remastered Blu-ray BOX 1 (Limited Edition) 9,535
4.) Haganai Vol.3 7,4415.) Hanasaku Iroha Vol.9 6,817
6.) High School DxD Vol. 1 6,780
7.) WORKING’!! (Limited Edition) Vol.6 6,7448.) Ano Natsu de Matteru Vol. 1 (First Press Limited Edition) 6,128
9.) Guilty Crown Vol.3 (Limited Edition) 5,883
10.) Inu x Boku SS Vol.1 (Limited Edition) 5,702
While it seems that the formula of lolis with story is still vastly superior in both entertainment and ability to sell, High School DxD’s own recipe of enormous breasts and flat chests is apparently quite effective as well – and with such strong sales, a second season wouldn’t be a shock at all.

It’s always the lolis.

After some critical thinking and long thought, looking back on all the horrible series that all coincidentally had Big Busty Babes at the spotlight in contrast to how many great shows all happen to have a loli in them, (monogatari, madoka, F/Z(hey, there’s loli rin), Seitokai no Ichizon, ARIA, etc.), I have to agree, Lolis are better than Busty Babes.

im happy that Natsume Yuujinchou Shi is also on top of it

It’s hard to accept but yeah, sex sells…really well.
This makes me sad -___-….
Mar 27, 2012 @ 11:31 CDT
Not as well as a respectable loli or even close to the epicness of Fate/Zero.
There is hope still.
Mar 27, 2012 @ 11:49 CDT
Really, really well….
However I’m joyous that the lolis still topped all – the flat chests cannot be overtaken so easily.
Mar 27, 2012 @ 15:19 CDT
Never underestimate flat chests!

So in anime, less can be more?
Mar 27, 2012 @ 20:34 CDT
Oh yesssssss.
Mar 27, 2012 @ 10:50 CDT
it’s not just their bewbs that are huge, even their sales. lol.
Mar 27, 2012 @ 11:49 CDT
It seems there is a correlation with big oppai and big sales.

Lol have you guys even watched the series before commenting? It’s quite good, but the oppai scenes were rather overwhelming.
