Unlike the anime which offered a rather bland sex scene between Yukiteru and yandere, Mirai Nikki’s manga provides an uncensored sight which seems far more intense and inappropriate – though sillier as well.
Laying down exposed, the yandere’s body actually isn’t very enticing at all – curves are lacking, she nearly appears muscular, and it seems not like she has oppai, yet instead, as if she had a second pair of eyes. Seeing the naive, friend backstabbing incompetent excuse of a main character all over her in the second panel, this is even more amusing – he’s sketched to appear as if he weren’t a scrawny schoolkid, and the entire scene looks akin to something pulled from a 90′s cheap romance manga.
Best of all however has to be the final panel – as rather than give us the impression Yukiteru has been poisoned while the yandere backed out and survived, it seems more like zombies have been resurrected from the dead, with Yukiteru following the yandere’s lead. Seemingly, this is one scene which cannot be saved in neither anime nor manga form.

If I really remade the story, Yukiteru would be more brave and would fall for lust with Yuno. He’d be skeptical about friendship after being betrayed and futher crashing into Yuno’s darkness (or vagina).
The diary owners would face each other a lot more rather than all the Xth vs Yuki&Yuno. It’s a game, not a hunt.
And Nineth would keep her arm, I love her.

First thing on my list would be to have Akise Aru NOT getting totally pwned by Yuno, particularly since he seemed quite able to handle her like a parent to a child early on.
It always annoyed me how he got royally screwed over. He’d have a much bigger role than he did, perhaps even ending up killing Yukiteru out of a sense of obligation and fighting it out with Yuno in the end.

I agree. He had such a strong role, but I think it was underdeveloped. After I read Mirai Nikki Paradox, I wanted him as a protagonist a lot more than Yuki.

In the Paradox manga, Akise Aru solved the Future Diary corundum in 3 days, so there you go.
Having an incompetent protagonist works better for a story full of twists and reveals, cuz a “Gary Stu” character like Akise would kinda defeat the purpose.

Having an incompetent protagonist also works to infuriate the viewers and make them hate the series – they could have had an adventurous, Guybrush Threepwood type character, or for an anime reference, perhaps someone similar to the leading male of Un-Go, though that would actually mean someone like Akise Aru…

Shinjuro, the failed detective from Un-Go almost always solved every mystery, sometimes within less than a single episode, and would solve the Future Diary just as easily.
That you mislike the protagonist is no criticism of the show overall. In fact, a loser, Shinji Ikari-type is precisely what the show requires in order to be effective with its strengths (twists). A protagonist need not necessarily be some alter ego for the audience to project its fantasies on, a Don Draper for the middle class who hate their jobs.

Yes, well said – the protagonist wouldn’t have worked if he were a smooth operator type, however Yukiteru’s naivete is one thing which I’m positive however they could have at least toned down.
