Although the first Blu-ray volume of below average action anime Rinne no Langrange has been released, the studio behind it apparently thought otaku don’t deserve to see what they’ve paid for, uncensored nudity.
As one of the main, if not the only, selling point of this series is the young highschool girl fanservice, many are enraged that they’ve purchased the first BD volume only to find that it remains censored – not a single nipple is present despite the blatant bathing scene emphasis. A tragedy entirely unacceptable as the hard earned yen of many an otaku now goes to waste on a Blu-ray which provides nothing different than the TV release – only an upscaled video so one can see the failure attempt at a mech anime in full 1080p.
It’s a given that a Blu-ray should come raw and uncut – with the only alterations being improvements in lines, colors, or compositing, however to sustain censorship into the BD is a complete insult to the legions of otaku which Xebec, the producers of this remedial creation, have already done well to offend with such a drivel based anime series that truly had not a single other thing going for it.
Xebec uncensored their previous garbage work entitled “Softenni” on its BD release – yet it seems that despite Rinne no Langrange’s vehement emphasis of female figures, and the manga’s purely purposeful focus on massive breasts, it’s intended to be a family friendly affair.
And as if to spit in the face of otaku everywhere, the changes which Xebec did make to the Blu-ray are all so ridiculously superficial – they’re not even the meaningful color corrections or fine adjustments as seen with respectable anime series, Xebec simply did things such as amping the contrast by five percent, or replacing a colorful patterned background in the opening sequence with another colorful patterned background.
Impressively, Xebec now not only disappoints in their anime releases, yet in their merchandise as well.
