Otaku have been wondering why P.A. Works so assertively insists against showing pantsu in their ongoing series “Another” – instead resorting to unrealistically stiff skirts and a lacking sense of textile physics.
Several scenes has come to pass within Another, most notably from the latest episode of Another, where a pantsu shot, even ever so slight, would have been much more appropriate in place of what is actually shown – a skirt which sticks to the legs of the series’ female characters like a high powered magnet.
Don’t however make the mistake to think the inclusion of pantsu means the series has to become like the bra and panty packed anime “Highschool Of The Dead“, or anything of the sort – rather, Another should feature sensible and relevant sightings of female underwear akin to the diminutive and very rare sightings seen in Moretsu Pirates.
Only an episode or two of Moretsu Pirates thus far has had a scene of visible pantsu – and the character’s undergarment was not made a main focus at all. It was in the midst of an action which inevitably would expose her underwear from the right angle – and went hardly noticeable as the camera did not even emphasize it. While of course a series shouldn’t resort to blatantly exhibiting suggestive sights like our favored example of such, “Highschool Of The Dead”, a series also should not avoid such when the scene calls for it simply for the specific sake of excluding them.
Taking a look at the screencap above, pulled directly from Another’s latest affair, episode 11, our tsundere’s skirt attaches to her legs as if it were subjected to capillary action – this is not proper at all. Even if all that were visible were a void of shadowy black as seen in InuBoku SS, it would be far more fitting a sight so long as her skirt weren’t so protective of her crotch region.
Ideally, P.A. Works will see that this is fixed in the upcoming Blu-ray release.

If the Blu-ray did reveal what color Akazawa prefers, I’d buy it.

This is a case of what is called “positive discrimination” being applied to pantsu:

I love everything except the magnetic skirts.

Agreed in that such should be by no means a focus of Another, but rather a realistic emphasis of the moment.
That having been said however, I can also safely say that what few scenes would give the chance – while being far and few between – certainly have quite a bit more going on with which to draw one’s attention.
Bottom line? I wouldn’t complain if they did fix it in the Blu-ray, but I’m not going to complain if it isn’t either.

I’m sure different people see it under a varied light – although I get really bothered when I see a stiff textile looking as if a render from some PS2 game circa year 2000.
If P.A. Works really wanted to avoid any sort of pantsu shots, they could have adjusted the camera slightly to be more suitable for their intent – or perhaps had something done like had the characters put on their pajamas to eliminate the skirt.

“or perhaps had done something like had the characters put on their pajamas”
…That’s brilliant, I hadn’t even considered that. The whole Another class, or more specifically our lovely young ladies in frilly attire whilst freaking out and killing one another, spectacular blood shots streaming across their most personal garments to give a far more personal feel to their situation.
They most certainly should’ve done that. -Nod nod-

Indeed, I don’t understand why they were still wearing their seifukus so late at night to begin with – those Japanese and their school uniforms…

That’s hilarious. We literally just finished watching this episode, and this is the first thing I happen to read. I almost felt bad about pointing that out after seeing someone fall out of a window and land on their neck. I didn’t need to see her underwear, I just thought it looked really unrealistic.

You shouldn’t feel bad – it’s so unrealistic, it hurts to watch.

i dont mind they not showing patsu after all this a mystery/suspense series

It’s not the pantsu, the issue is the lack of realistic motion and physics – like mentioned, they could have used an alternative camera angle or attire if they want to avoid showing pantsu so badly.
