Sankarea Seduces From Key Visuals Alone

Mar 10, 2012 @ 20:57 CST

Key character visuals have been released for a romantic horror comedy rapidly closing in, Sankarea, showing a cast quite unique for the most part – dressed in a manner highly stylized, with traits to match.

Everything about this series is interesting – from the plot to the characters, and examining the latter, even the male lead who usually comes quite conventional in appearance is absolutely anything but. Occasionally one may have come across a neko-haired girl every now and then – loli mahjong series Saki being a memorable example of such, yet when was the last time a neko-haired shounen has been brought to light? Not any time in recent memory – and that could be perhaps as such a thing has yet to be seen till now.

Our hero sports some snazzy casual clothing to go with his neko hairstyle – showing it off with expressions which are not akin to those typically seen. We could be incorrect – although he looks like a fairly easygoing yet sensitive character. This isn’t to say he cries at the slightest insult or anything – rather, he’s more considerate and perceptive of emotion, a strong side still present as well.

As for our heroine, if not for her attire, she’d look like an average bishoujo character – her seifuku however is truly lavishing in a manner fashionably original, and this also works to boost her beauty a grand extent. Going against the colors commonly seen on seifukus, hers happens to be a pastel purple very soft in tone – this makes her complexion come off as one delicate like a butterfly, her sweetly smiling visage doing well to also contribute to that belief.

Also intriguing about our heroine’s appearance is how she appears beneath the clothes – and it’s not her pantsu color we’re curious about, rather, the unmissable gash across her stomach.

Though moving onto more flavorful sights than scars and lashes, our blonde haired bishoujo appears quite lovely a female character as well – she has the look of one very kindhearted as her smile does imply. It’s a grin not only of upbeat feeling, but also of enthusiasm to achieve.

Finally, no series would go complete without a loli character to satisfy the many into flat chests and children – Sankarea’s loli wears the ensemble expected of the local neighborhood delinquent, her hair color and physique say otherwise however. The uniform likely means she attends a separate school than our crew above her, leaving us wondering how she goes to meet them. And as for personality, she seems to be quite shy and somewhat saddened a character – certainly a rather fascinating flat chested female indeed.

Sankarea comes from a respectable manga, and shows some splendid pre-release material which drives the mind with questions – overall making for a worthy watch this coming April 6th which we do anticipate a bit more than most.

The manga is strongest when it is focussed upon the horror aspects, and weakest when it tries to be a shounen harem romance.

Ranko, aka, Wanko, the blond, is Chihiro’s older first cousin. She plays the main cock-blocker.

Chihiro’s little sister Mero ( the silver-haired one ) doesn’t play much of a roll and there is no bro-con or sis-con between them.

Several other babes are after Chihiro’s bod…

But if the guro is done right this could be a memorable anime.

Keep in mind – the manga is still going and there is no obvious end in sight.

Well said – I don’t like the shounen harem either, I do however enjoy the sentiments being subtly suggested. Though of course, the anime could turn out to be quite different than the manga.
