A collective of creative individuals amongst otaku have devised a doujin which exhibits girls with yoyos – not only is the concept all so simple yet outlandish, the artwork is unbelievably unique, a savory sight indeed.
This doujin highlights girls with yoyos in everyday scenarios – however, the tricks executed by these girls are definitely anything but the norm. They show-off their advanced level yoyo techniques – and as not particularly spectacular as that sounds, once one actually feasts their vision upon it, it’s quite incredible to say the least.
Merely glancing upon the front cover, one is left entirely baffled by how such beyond human expertise an individual can somehow possess in the skill of art. The girl’s skirt is a color red made impeccably smooth like a flavorful fruit – it matches the yoyo she tosses playfully into the air, as well as the trim of her blouse, and her mouth. In respect to her shirt, it’s a soft cottony hue so soothing on the eyes. The girl stands out as the varied greens behind her contrast and bring her out visually.
Inside, the tome contains many more overwhelming illustrations of girls with their respective yoyos. Defining this doujin in its own class is that not only do the circumstances of each artwork change, but the entire art style differs between every illustration. And it’s not simply a series of minuscule changes either – it’s a completely fresh look at a girl with a yoyo boasting a new color scheme, setting, medium, shadows remade under an alternative light source in mind, and lines rewritten. Works all totally unrelated – yet singular in that they contain a girl with a yoyo.
It’s a total of six amazing artists who account for the imagery within this doujin and the style of each artist prospers beautifully as a sense of vitality ringing with each page of shoujo and yoyo. Beside every image, the yoyo is described in great depth – details listed of its aerodynamics, price, and physical properties, as well as of the relevant maneuver being exhibited by the girl. Indeed, the yoyos portrayed are based after a third dimensional counterpart.
The book is sponsored by several major yoyo organizations in Japan – and is quite a hit for reasons all so apparent. Who’d had known yoyos could be so extraordinary when in the hands of attractive girls?
