Otaku friendly retailer, Gamers, was spotted showing off some erotic and messy posters of reverse crossdressing series Mayo Chiki, as well as a banner of Itsuka Tenma’s lolis topless to promote the series’ Blu-rays.
The posters are rather bittersweet – they come with a side fine for anyone to see, yet flipping it over, you’re then treated to vehement eyecandy of second dimensional oppai. Mayo Chiki’s marketing illustration sports a mix of full nudity, lingerie, and icing – breasts being the main factor of satisfaction provided, whereas the signboard of Itsuka Tenma, knowing it cannot compete in breast size, instead caters to those with a fetish for pantsu and that which they entrap. Not to mention, some delectable flat chests.

I suppose the effort is in the right place, but allow me to be perfectly frank. Do you people really think an erotic poster or two is going to send people scurrying to spend near $100 on a subpar series?
Being a fan of the Itsu-Ten light novel and manga series, it pains me somewhat to say this, but an anime fail is just that, a failure. You can struggle and fight against it as much as you want, and perhaps you may even see a slight spike in your sales as a result, but it will never be enough to compensate for the misguided vision (here’s looking at you, Zexcs) that disappointed fans so very much.
And as for Mayo Chiki, well… some things are better spoken for themselves.
But onto the posters themselves… tell me exactly what I’m supposed to be looking at here? Granted the characters are different, but other than that I’ve seen all this before.
Call it as you will, but all I’m seeing here is a hollow, rather hastily put together mind you, piece of art that leaves me wanting.
