A series both audacious and bold, Moretsu Pirates is back again with another brave display of highschool girl action – our crew discovers that they’re soon to be attacked, becoming determined to get the upper hand.
Previously our heroine’s club managed to overcome a minor issue with their shuttle – now they face a “situation”, something not necessarily negative or positive, at least not at the moment, although it is worthy of interest. Several ships which aren’t responding normally have been detected within the vicinity of the one which our characters are currently boarded upon, the Odette II. This raises concern as these peculiar ships are nowhere to be found once the piratical sensei goes to run another scan and see them himself.
This brings up even more questions as to how these three ships disappeared without much of a trace – yet checking the logs of the Odette, it’s quickly found out that the one which passed by at high speed happens to be the Betenmaru which our heroine has the opportunity to captain, whilst the other two simply vanished. The nurse and female friend of the single male on the ship decides to inform their buddies on the Bentemaru that they’ve been spotted – as well as that there’s two other discreet ships lurking around.
Our heroine and her megane wearing bishoujo friend then begin an investigation on their own, digging up an abundance of information about all ships currently in the dark starry skies surrounding them. They conclude someone is specifically targeting them – jamming their communications and collecting data in the process as well, making it possible for this offending party to even do something along the lines of replacing an SOS sent from our heroines ship with a message of “Odette II, all clear”, preventing them from receiving any aide.
Further, it seems that there is a valid possibility that this believed predator in the shadows could be planning to make an attack on our group of highschool girls as information regarding their ship’s course is freely available to anyone who would so desperately want it – and the pieces of varying oddities all add up to spell out that fact. And with that, our heroine is inclined to take them on before they make the first move – yet her glasses equipped friend reminds her that there’s other people on board.
Thus our heroine makes some preparations and shares her plans with everyone, and quite quickly, it becomes a full-scale countermeasure with everyone involved – plans are sketched out, and the girls get ready to lead their unseen enemy into a ploy. Although the pair of pirates on ship, the regular sensei and the nurse, are affiliated with the Bentenmaru, they’re merely standing-by and watching as this all goes down. Presumably, if something gets out of hand, the Bentenmaru will step up from its hibernation – and some spectacular sights would be sure to occur.
Similarly to all the episodes to arrive thus far, this proves a straightforward watch – yet also consistent is that the ending leaves us fired up to see how it turns out, as well as the recurring question of when will our heroine become a pirate.
