My only real reason for enjoying all twelve episodes is that I felt that a good nakama was being built. I found a dimension to the characters in that respect. I felt that Rais was building a family of sorts; contrasting with Phoenix that just made chess pieces. This is just an artists form of expression. I personally believe Twilight is a horrible work of fiction, but it did not change my feelings of fiction/fantasy literature nor did it make me feel ill towards female authors. To judge an entire genre or form of art from a small genre of itself is foolish, but people are going to think what they want. Anime is indeed Japanese animation, but it is also a medium of entertainment, one that many prefer because of the elaborate story telling and art that surpasses that of the cheap titillation television is stuffed with these days. Unfortunately, where there is good, there is bad and like the cheap television shows, there are cheap animes as well. These types of shows are not only smut, but also give the entire genre a bad name. One bad apple spoils the bunch, and when people see this it further perpetuates the stereotype that anime is pornography made for lonely basement dwellers and the Japanese are disgusting sex fiends who do nothing but draw said pornography. Obviously, this isn't true, but that is what happens... especially since most of the shows that make it to the west are shows of that type. Personally, I believe this sort of material to be inappropriate and shameful as well... but hey, people will do what they want... all we can do is keep ourselves and our children from it.
