It has been noticed that most of the characters of ongoing bodacious anime series, Moretsu Pirates, look starkly different than their manga counterparts – with many even to the point that they’re unrecognizable.
As one examines the side-by-side comparison of key characters from Moretsu Pirates below which shows them as seen in their manga and anime renditions, the first three, our heroine, her friend, and her mother, all seem to progressively become less identical. Our heroine is still fairly there – her friend however looks to be a different person personality-wise when comparing the anime to manga version, and not to mention, her hair’s a dark blue rather than its signature black, she also gives off an older impression in the manga.
As for our heroine’s mother on the third row, the manga exhibits a sexy seductive creature – whereas the anime shows a tough and rugged woman, traits further emphasized by her messy hair.
In respect to the peculiar fellow fourth down, as well as the slew of other individuals we’ve yet to be introduced to under him, minus the multi-hue haired female, it would normally be more difficult to assess as we don’t yet know their style yet – however they’re all so blatantly different, it’s not hard to tell what has changed.
The megane girl under the queen, as well as the last character, are simply so off in appearance, it’s almost as if they’ve switched genders – although surprisingly, that’s not the case.

You haven’t commented on the cyborg but don’t you think he looks 10 times more badass in the anime?

He sure does.

I like how the anime version looks more than the manga.

One of the rare cases where the anime character designs look better than the original.

I have to agree. Although I have not read the manga, I don’t think I would even consider watch this series if it use the same character design from the original source.

There’s unfortunately no manga for Moretsu Pirates. The original images are taken from the novel. Hopefully if popularity picks up, it would warrant a manga adaptation…I can only hope
