The first preview clip of a planned Touhou doujin anime has been released – although being a doujin work, this upcoming spectacle is already being regarded as a high quality “professional caliber” animation.
And quite frankly, we agree. Watching the PV below, the music is unbelievably beautiful – lovely vocals accompany an abstract scene of video which exhibits assorted patterns until reaching the title screen to show “~The Memories of Phantasm~”. Whilst we’re already frozen in awe, the video then infuriates a rage of desire within us once we see the amazingly accurate character designs which are completely loyal to the original concepts from Touhou’s progenitor ZUN, yet all while adapting uniquely to a livid anime atmosphere.
Impressing us with ease, the video shares the sight of all the Touhou characters you will already know and love if you’re familiar with the games – however even if you’re not, seeing a large gathering of undressed girls bathing in a single onsen is more than enough to entice many otaku to watch.
Making this PV very effective an appetizer is that it consists of meaningful excerpts from the soon to be available series. It introduces us to the characters as a group, as mentioned above – then it further presents them as individuals, showing us who they interact with, qualities of their personality, and how they carry themselves during free time, as well as during more crucial matters.
It’s not merely the character designs which are incredible, but the fluid motion visuals as well – the action scenes are on par, if not better than your average action series in terms of composition. And similarly to the characters, the fights are kept true to Touhou’s danmaku bullet hell style – yet molded to fit an anime format.
Just as an assurance of the impending abundance of epic this doujin work will deliver, it is being crafted by the same circle responsible for Comiket 80′s Fantasy Kaleidoscope Touhou Doujin anime work – alongside some additional members they’ve managed to acquire to create this sure to be spectacular short anime.

Gotta admit, I’m hyped for this. You get to see many segments of trivia without the story of Subterranean Animism which genuinely perk my interest such as Okuu having supposedly recieved her power from Kanako. All the backstory of what’s happening underground that only got fed to you as you descended the depths past Oni and Neko.
I just wish the naked bathing scene was a liiiiiitle bit longer >_>

While I’m not versed in Touhou enough to fully comprehend your first paragraph – I admire nude females of any dimension enough to agree with your second.

Ah, if only we could have our lovely Touhou cast bathing whilst under a starry sky underneath an ever so slight snowfall. ‘Twould surely be a beautiful sight for the eyes.
Alas, epic battle shall have to suit our carnal urges for the time being.

i dont really like to watch animes that involves only girls fighting specially wen they have gigantic oppai, but i will probably give this a chance since somehow while i was watching the preview it reminded me fairy tail

If you haven’t already, I recommend you watch Fantasy Kaleidoscope – it will give you an idea of what to expect. It’s really story focused and service is minimal.

I’m suprised you don’t know what Touhou is. It isint an anime. And it’s definitely not focused on fan service. You need to check out the actual Touhou game.

Aside from that this looks fantastic! As a big fan if the Touhou games I’m proud that the fans can make such good anime! And I also knew they would make the story for my favorite game into an anime! Now they better do UFO next!

I haven’t played the game, but only watched the OVA. I liked it. Well from the trailer it seems that Touhou anime might have a lot of ecchi. I hope it doesn’t. But these days anime industry will probably do tons of it. Well in that case I can forget warmth and serious plot without pantsu showing off. Bakemonogatari balanced the ecchi well, it’s something I believe Touhou will give – the balance.

I am quite happy that we get to see another Memories of Phantasm. By the way, the ecchi here isn’t canon for Touhou; just additional fanservice.
